In California it doesn't matter. I've heard that too though

I think the laws usually require the forward trailer to be a 5th wheel.

Thanks guys appreciate the info. I am handy with a welder and metal so I might see what I can do in a year when the warranty is up. Also thought about towing a real small trailer behind the r-pod.. I don't know about that yet though

When you go to welding under there, remember to protect the water proof membrane under the bottom of the pod.And.. towing a trailer, behind a trailer, is only legal in a few states, make sure you check ahead before you do it. California law says:CA DMV web site says:    No passenger vehicle, pickup truck,
or RV may tow more than one other vehicle without a Commercial Class A
license, with endorsement.

Yep, Class A and doubles endorsement. I likely won't, but it's nice to know I can if I want to get crazy lol

Check our mods page to see how we welded additional support and a new receiver to the rear. We have used a bike rack and 2bikes for our cross country trips. We did the dirt road to Chaco Canyon with no problems. Not everyone has the same results.

This is not recommended and voids the warranty. We have a 2009unit that has been ouThis is just what I did, not a suggestion that anyone follow.
Vanni of warranty for a long time.

You should find another dealer.

FR says "The spare tire, or two bicycles, on our bike rack." ANYTHING else voids the warranty on the frame. Any modification to the frame to support more weight, voids the warranty on the frame.

If you are out of warranty, then do as you will, others have. But I would SERIOUSLY research and then beef up any hitch mount that you intend to use for more then what FR says.

I suspect if you put a rack/tray on there, and then had an adult jump up and down on it, 4 real jumps and the hitch would bend to the ground or brake off.
