Topic: Hello from Anchorage Posted: 28 Jan 2016 at 2:22pm |
Been lurking the last few days; the forum has been a great wealth of info so far.
My wife and I will be purchasing a 2016 R-Pod 180 or 178 this weekend. The 180 is pending a sale at the dealer and our fall back will be the 178. She wants the full bath but I want the larger dinette just in case we need the extra bed.
This will be our first TT; we've owned a class C in the past. My TV will be a 2010 Tundra with Tekonsha P3 (I installed Tuesday) and leaning towards an Andersen WDH.
We will not be using the TT until weather is nicer, but I figured I get the TT now to save a bit before demands get higher.

Oh my gosh! A couple from AK! I live in Anchorage and bought a 179 from ABC this fall. Took it out 5 or 6 times before freeze up. It is most wonderful. Though I had huge problems when I bought it, I got two left cushions, so the piping was upside down on one side, caused me a sleepless night, HA !! ...NOT!! couldn't figure out the programming of the TV, another big dilemma, (yeah, right)but the guys at ABC were awesome! I love my J Pod and will help you with anything you need๐

Yeah, ABC was great to work with. I paid for the 178 today and will take delivery sometime next week. The biggest problem I have now is waiting for warmer weather!

So how many hours drive is it to get from your home (Anchorage) to Spokane? Looking forward to a trip there once I retire in a few years.

I've never driven the entire way, but I know some folks have pushed it hard over 3 days without a trailer in tow.

Welcome. 3 days w/o a trailer would be closer to 5 with one, and you will be exhausted when you get there. Something to keep in mind.

Hi Kids,
Sorry for the slow reply. I have been out of cell service at my cabin for the last few days.
I was planning a trip south to Yellowstone and was figuring 10 days. I have learned it takes a lot longer to travel with a trailer or in a motorhome. It is about 2400 miles to Spokane. And who wants to rush?! Like techntrek said you will be all stressed and exhausted. The Milepost guide is a great way to find all the interesting spots along the way. Even 10 days would mean 240 miles a day- which is all I would want to do!
Congrats dbytes!! Glad to see someone else is in my boat-- having to wait til Spring! I read about these other plodders that use their's year round. Punks! ๐ I have been spending the winter spending a lot of money and ordering a lot of accessories! Fun! I got vintage chairs, vintage awning, tv swivel arm, and other goodies. I'm sure you will enjoy your 178! Maybe I'll see you out and about this summer!
