CPAP shelf

It looks to be at least two inches thick. That certainly helps.

I will use the Allen & Roth 72" x 16" closet shelf which I saw others had used successfully. I plan on using Toggler fasteners with brackets to fasten wood pieces to the wall and the shelf will sit on them.

These fasteners should work. If the foam is too dense to allow the wings to spread, I'll drop back to plan B, which is to use Molly fasteners.

We used the Allen and Roth shelf from Lowes, and regular screws with L brackets.  The shelf is very light weight and holds two CPAPS, the modem for our internet (while we are currently staying a while) and extra coats, etc. 

I used 1 1/4" Mollys.

I guess I ought to follow up on this and show the solution. It is one I found in the mods, and put my own touches to it. The shelf came from Lowe's, but the end brackets are my own design and construction.



The shelf brackets use metal "L" brackets that slip behind the valence. Command strips hold the shelf brackets in place.

There is a bolt that goes up through the bottom of the bracket and a corresponding hole in the shelf bar that sits over the bolt. This keeps the shelf from sliding.


The complete shelf. The CPAP machine sits up there, and the hose runs down between the shelf and the curved ceiling/wall. I use a 12 Volt power cord, having installed a 12 Volt outlet at the head end of the bed. We used this setup on a trip we took from NC to see our daughters and their families in NV and AZ. It worked very well.

Light weight items generally ride well on the shelf. I do not transport the CPAP machine there. Anything heavier than clothing rides on the bed. If I had higher rails that would keep things from sliding off, I would try putting more up there. For now, it is just as easy to move things for travel and put them there when we are stopped.
