Saw it at the RV show today. They were trying to claim that it is built better. What I noticed was not an improvement. The parts and everything looks identical to the Pod. Even the glass in the cabinets was the same.

They priced it close to the same as a pod.

More manufacturers = more distribution= more competition = lower sell prices.  We all win. Personally, I feel no loyalty to Forest River, I gave them money and they gave me a trailer.  If I were in the market for a new purchase, I would carefully investigate all options and probably purchase based on price.

100% agreed podrunner --- You couldn't have said it any better. Other than the name that a company slaps on a side of the RV, almost 100% of the components are utilized and are identical to what every RV Manufacturer uses in their RV. Every RV is pretty much the same component wise. The only difference is sometimes the shape of the unit and color schemes. Plus no one I'm sure in the RV Industry has a lifetime PATENT on an overall design on a unit for a lifetime hence the copy cats across Forest River, THOR, Winnegago, etc.

I don't know if FR has one on the Pod but, there is such a thing as a design patent. Example = the iconic "Coke bottle" - which happened to turn 100yrs. yesterday. A product does not even have to be an exact duplicate/copy to infringe.....only substantially similar.

PS - If memory serves, it was designed/created in Terre Haute, IN

Forest River has sued Winnibago.  Competition is alive and well.  I'd personally rather see them defeat competition by constantly improving products at competitive prices delivering higher consumer value, not claiming proprietary rights unless shown to be truly innovative and properly documented and protected.  There is a saw off between encouraging investment in innovation and not allowing unfair monopolies to restrict consumer choice.  I love my RPod but if somebody can do better, I'm interested!
