The foliage right now in northern Vermont is what I would describe a very slight change in colors. With all the hot weather we have had, it has slowed the color changes by a week or two.We are starting to get some cool nights which should help!

Algonquin Park, ON

If you are interested in camping in a canopy of maple trees, you should pick Canisbay campground in Algonquin Park for either the last week-end in September or the first week-end in October. Reservations using the Ontario Parks online reservation system can be made 5 months in advance.

As of September 23rd, "Algonquin Park's Sugar Maple canopy has reached 50% colour change. With each passing day Algonquin Park's fall colours are increasing. Many long-time Algonquin Park fall colour watchers are predicting the peak Sugar Maple colour to be later than the September 27 average of the past 40 years. All species of deciduous trees continue to show a strengthening fall colour with the peak Sugar Maple colour expected within the next 4 to 11 days."

For updated information check out http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/general_park_info/fall-colour-report.php

Algonquin Park I haven't been there in 40 years, some of the best canoe camping I ever did. Heard my first Loon in the middle of the night and scared the crap out if me as we had no idea what it was.

Just about peaked here in the mountains of Northern Colorado.  Over the next couple of weeks, the peak colors will be found farther south in CO.

Ontario Parks

Ontario Parks has a website with Fall Colour Reports for each of the Provincial Parks at http://www.ontarioparks.com/fallcolour

It appears that there are comparable websites for much of the United States but I will leave it to others to advise which ones are the best.
