Topic: 2 Honda EU2000i OR 1 Honda EU3000is Posted: 07 Sep 2015 at 7:32am |
I want to be able to run our AC when needed and I'm trying to decide between the 2 setups. I'm leaning towards the dual EU2000 because: - I already have a EU2000
- I can easily handle the weight of 47lbs
- The EU3000 weighs 139lbs
- If I know I won't be needing the AC on a particular trip I only need to bring 1 unit
However, if I go with the EU3000: - I can easily sell my EU2000
- I'll only have to maintain 1 unit
If I decide on the dual EU2000 do I get the EU2000ia Companion? Thanks, Bob

I also have 2 Honda 2000s and wonder if just one of them will run the ac if I turn of the internal battery charger.
I don't have my new 179 just yet so have not tried it.

Hey, hey hey, Capt Kidd... what's with the hijack? ;)
I'm talking about the pro and cons of:
2- Honda EU2000i vs. 1- Honda EU3000is

Bob, if you think of that as a hijack all I can say is get used to it. The discussion is about stacking two Honda gennies, The reply also asked a similar question. It happens all the time. just like in real conversation.

That wasn't my question at all. And in a "real conversation" I call that two different discussions. My question was the difference between the 2 setups NOT if a 2000 will run the AC.

Don't be real surprised if you don't get a lot of advice.

Bob I am sorry you feel I hijacked your thread that was not my intention. I was joining in on the conversation about 2 Honda 2000s. Please accept my apology.

The questions are closely related and discussion would have helped both.
You get a much longer run time with the 3000. The 3000 is harder to steal - nearly impossible for one person.
Running the A/C with a single 2000 is questionable at sea level on a cooler day. You lose 3.5% of your power for every 1000 feet in elevation and another 1% for every 10 F degrees above 60, so keep that in mind if you will be going to Yellowstone at 8000+ feet (a 30% loss on an 80 degree day there).
I had a Yamaha EF2400is and it only lasted 8 hours running the pod + A/C with the fan on low. I also knew we would be making future trips at a higher elevation so I got the Honda EU3000.

This is not a big deal, Capt Kidd - go ahead and post your question on a new thread ... I would like to know the answer myself.... I see both sides, I like a bouncy thread, lot's of interaction myself, but to Bob's point things can get lost... no biggie..

Capt Kidd, I agree, really this wasn't anything you did.
