Don Halas,
We have used the rack in our convection-microwave oven several times without any problems. Just be sure you are in convection mode & not microwave mode. I suspect the red rubber feet are silicone. I have a silicone cooking sheet that I place directly over the fire on my gas grill.

I searched and this seemed the most appropriate place to post this question.
I'm really having some concern believing I can use the convection/rack in the convection oven. My concern is with the little red rubber feet on the two ends. Are they really tolerant to temperatures of 400F? We don't have a microwave at home so not having one in the trailer would be ok. Of course since we have it I'm sure we will have situations that we use it. But I'm more interested in the ability to bake or warm something in the convection oven. Baking isn't so easy using camp equipment and fresh biscuits or reheating some frozen calzones would be a great thing to have on the road. Anyway, I've bought my 10" pizza tray, but just can't get around the fact that those little rubber feet are good in that hot oven. |

It's funny. I tested it in the driveway and like it a lot. All the functions work well and it seems like it would be really versatile to cook in. We just rarely use it, other than for heating baked beans or baked potatoes. The Weber Q does the heavy lifting when it comes to cooking (even under the Dome).
The rest of the time, we use it to store bread and chips and stuff. I don't want to take it out cuz I never know when DW might wanna make me a fresh apple pie. It happens. fred |

I used the convection mode to roast pumpkin seeds during our Halloween campouts.

We camp with hook ups a lot, and I really like bread, rolls, biscuits etc..

We removed the microwave/convection oven to add some extra storage space in our 171. We spend most of our time camping in dry sites in the Colorado mountains and don't have a generator. For us, the space was more important.

Thanks for the replies! I've done most of my camping without hookups, so I'll get used to using the oven(s) over time. We're heading out to Mueller State Park just west of Pikes Peak this Monday and Tuesday nights for our shakedown cruise.

Frankly, I think the convection oven is more useful than the microwave.
