Hello podders,
We picked up our new 179 today.  We were concerned about getting it up our driveway, and we did indeed have some rear stabilizer scraping on the incline as we backed it up.  They weren't damaged but will scratch up our driveway pretty bad.  Also can't be good for the jacks.  What can I do?  Can I have the scissors jacks removed and take some kind of portable stabilizers along with me?  Will stacker jacks work? We already had the pod lifted. Has anyone used any other portable stabilizers?

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new pod! 

You can remove the scissor jacks and use them or anything else as stabilizers. The scissor jacks are a convenience.  There are jacks that you can easily remove completely for transport and attach when you set up.  Sorry I don't have any brand names or links, but someone will probably chime in with specific suggestions.

It may be that you can lay a 2x8 board across your driveway where it meets the road to soften the angle as you transition from the street to your driveway.  Something to raise the trailer wheels just a bit when the jacks are at their low point.  That might be easier.

Also, you might think about dropping the ball on your tow vehicle a couple of inches.

This problem is not at all unheard of, but it is pretty unusual.  If you an solve the issue at your driveway you are unlikely to encounter it elsewhere.

I had my dealer put them on for me because of the same reason (I was worried I wouldn't be able to get into my driveway).  They work like they are supposed to!  I have think Camping World sells them, maybe other places, too.

Welcome.  The early pods only came with rear stabilizers so I used jack stands, that I already had, up front.

Thanks folks!  I ordered the savajack brackets, found them on some website cheaper than camping world. I thought about the boards but I figured I would just do it right in case I came across another incline or dip in the road somewhere else.  Now to see if I can install them.....  Ok, I'm calling her "Mama Odie," since she was the voodoo lady in princess and the "frog."  She made good things happen to the frogs so she will bring good voodoo my way.  Thank you for your help!!  See you on the road.

My wife and I  had the same problem when we bought our RPOD. We solved it with the SaveaJack mod as well. To install them I had to use a cold chisel and a hammer to break the spot welds connecting the jacks to the frame.  It wasn't very difficult to do. I mounted thesavajack brackets with bolts through the frame. I chose to use through bolts rather than self tapping screws for a stronger connection.
 The other modification we made to help with ground clearance was to add the risers between the axle and the frame. You can look this mod up on the forum. Manypodders have done this mod. Good luck with the jack project. If you have any questions  feel free to PM me.
