Congrats on the new 172. I picked mine up last month and I'm still pretty stoked about it. Living in Oregon, I got the Hood River Edition which is a pretty sweet upgrade.

Hope to see you on the road. Smile

Jules, look at some of Marwaynes posts he has a 172 and has made a lot of neat mods on it, some you may want or not , but he is always making it better.

We are still learning ours and trying to figure out just what we need to do to make it work for us.  The first thing we did was get memory foam toppers and a super thick mattress pad for the beds.  We had hoped that twin sheets would work and they do so that is great.  We got full sized toppers and just cut them to size.  It now feels like our pillowtop bed at home!  Tomorrow we are setting up the kitchen and moving all our camping stuff into the pod.  I can't wait till we hit the road but it will be Sept before we take any long trips.  As to the storage, I will check tomorrow but it seems like the storage is under just the first cushion.  We are thinking we might try to put drawers under the bunk storage to make access easier.  Let us know what else you do.  Hope we see you out there.

congrats! I just got my 172 yesterday. 2013 not bright and shinny like yours! Hope to see you on the road someday.

Just did a mod on my that I wonder if its setup the same as yours. The storage area under the seat cushion next to the sink is longer that a single cushion. Makes it difficult to get into without having the lid scrape the back seat cushion by about three inches.

I put a support bar and split the lid up so that I could open it without removing the rear cushion. I will take a couple of pictures to show you what I mean. I wonder if yours is the same. Maybe FR modified it in the last couple of years?

Just picked up our 172 about 2 hours from home.  We made it home safely and without problems even though the brake controller was sitting at home!  DUH.  Now we have to figure it all out, load it up and do a shakedown before we leave for CA in the fall.  Thanks again to everyone who answered questions for me over the last couple months while we were deciding on if we wanted to do it and then which model.  All your comments and advice were great and much appreciated.   I am sure we will have more questions as we get to know our new pod.
