Just checked at Silver Lake east El Dorado NF, California.  We were told that water will NOT be available at there campground and other California Campgrounds because of water shortages. I cancelled my reservation but I did check other campgrounds in the general area and they are furnishing water.
You might check before you go. The website on recreation.gov for silver lake will l say they have water.   Good Luck

If you go for a weekend, you can take enough in your fresh water tank that you won't need their supply.  We would typically get 4 Navy showers, plus toilet flushing and hands washing over a weekend.  We would take additional water for drinking and cooking.

Dry camping for a weekend is pretty easy.. Like Doug, we fill the FW holding tank, carry drinks separate. You can also carry a couple 5 gallon jugs if needed, to top off the holding tank.. On most pods you have twice as much waste water holding as you do fresh..

This was just a heads-up warning that water might not be available. We were booked for two weeks at this campground. They always had water for the incoming campers. I normally come in and fill when I get there.
Just check the campgrounds in California for available water because of the lack of snow pack and rain.
