Following the excellent write up From Huron Sailor and others, I did the Vintage Trailer door window install. I chose to take the door off. It's really not a difficult mod at all. Just like all mods that require drilling, sawing, electrical or mechanical...measure two or three times and save the beer for last! Big smile

If I had the time, I would probably paint the inside trim ring black, but we got reservations at Assateague Island and I hear the fish are biting and the bugs aren't so it will have to wait!

My only regret is that this wasn't the first mod I did!

Primo!  Looks mighty good.  I may have to bump that up on the priority list.  Did you use a fairly fine-toothed saw blade?  I see you're protecting your hearing, too.  Good call.  Just had a hearing test earlier today.  Results could have been better.  Ouch

John,

Yeah, I think it was a 2.8 mm blade (Makita or Bosch). I got a drawer full.

I just got these new 3M ear muffs to replace my old broken HD cheapies. They are great! Driving the Gravely brush hog all morning was a pleasure...on my ears. The rest of my body is a total wreck!

If you will be at Assateague next weekend, we'll be close by.

I don't see a hole drilled to start the cut.  How did you do that?

I ordered a window today for our 179.  Did you put any caulking around the opening before setting the window frame in place?

I was wondering the same thing. I am very interested in this mod, but absolutely need a blind for nighttime. I searched online and found a lot of RV blinds but none that seemed to fit this particular window size. Anyone added a blind?
