Electric Tongue Jack....??

If I'm on level ground its works OK with my Xterra but if the Xterra is on an up slope then it hits. If possible I move it so its level or a slight down slope with the trailer level and all is good. 

One thing to watch for is the height of the section that extends above the A-frame, especially if you have a lift gate on your tow vehicle.  I had installed electric jacks on two previous travel trailers and I love them - especially as the years pile up. 

I installed a new electric jack on our #179 but didn't need to move the Pod for weeks after.  All went well as I backed up our Ford Expedition with the lift gate up, just as I had done on the old Surveyor.  The problem came when I lowered the tailgate and it wouldn't clear the jack.  Just a matter of inches, but it's not nearly as convenient to hook up now. 

Be sure to check that out if you have a lift gate.

You'll be happy with the Husky, I'm sure.  It is wonderful watching the pod move up and down with the touch of a finger.  800 pounds on the tongue of your Salem might be a bit much for my drill though.

I see there is a Husky 4500 with 2 remote fobs on Amazon.  Not sure I understand the need for (or even the desirability of) a remote control tongue jack.  But since it only seems to cost an extra $2 more than the one without the remote, I'd go for it!  It seems to me there is a bit of a safety factor in wanting to be right there when you are connecting and disconnecting though... not to mention you need to deal with the chains and emergency brake disconnect and Bargman, etc. anyway!

It would be fun stand there with your hands in your pockets and impress your friends and neighbors with your ability to move the camper up and down using only mind-control.
