Well I tried out my new Rdome today.  As others have noted, it will take a little work to make it fit right.  The part that goes in the rail does extend beyond the track on the Rpod, my theory is that it would work best to have that excess at the rear, and wrap the material up and over the back side, and attach the suction hooks onto the back, rather than the side wall.  That gives you a bit more head room at the door.  Not easy to set up, one person, with wind blowing.  It will work better when staked to the ground, for sure.

I have a feeling I'm going to be using my Pahaque awning a lot more than the Rdome!

Disappointed to see "made in China", for what I paid, I could buy 2 or 3 good quality stand alone 10x10 or 12x12 canopies; walmart.com has a 10x12 Coleman hex screened canopy/gazebo for $134....!

I know this isn't set up like you would at camp but you'll want your roof poles much tighter next time you use it.

Looks like it could be moved some as you said, but still looks like the rain flaps are elevated.  Maybe with it hanging straight down instead of pulled to the sides they wouldn't be so high.

I was under the impression that was what was being changed on the new ones.

I tried to set up my new rdome on my new 179. I had the help of two guys who are very handy with this kind of task. Getting the runner into the track was almost impossible. It stuck every 12 inches. And we had to back it out and run it thgough again. My friend said he saw pieces of plastic that were used to construct the runner were the reason. After we got the runner all the way to the end it stuck past each grooved end by about a foot. The end attached to the trailer never touched the ground. This was either the wrong rdome for this 179 or just really poor design. Now I will have to struggle with the dealer to get a refund or replacement and I'm not sure I want another a Rdome!

The first couple of set ups can be rough, but once you have run it through the track a couple of times it usually shave off any excess and fit a lot better.

Check the screw heads inside the track.  We found we liked our EZ-ups better.

I returned it. I want to find or make a simple awning that slides into the guide and has two poles to stand it up. Maybe with mosquito netting. Thanks for the feedback.

I ordered my RPod with an RDome as well, my dealer checked with service and they said it is supposed to be the updated one that fits better. When i asked him he did say that they had problems with them fitting on the older models so not sure if that means that FR changed the Pod or the manufacture changed the RDome. The only problem is with the HRE is the extra 4" they are lifted. Once i get it in i will install and show some pics and what  possible changes i will do to the tent.

The only time i will see using the RDome is on extended stays so i can throw the kids and dog out there to sleep lol, i will be making my own quick-set up awning for the one night stays just enough for some shade. I do not agree with the price of the RDome but the overall look i like, im just hoping they are made of good materials for life span, but even then if your good with a needle and thread no reason a lil repair cant be done.
