Good morning . We are just filling the water system for the first time on a 2015 Rpod 178 . Everything seems to be working except that there is no pressure from the water pump . Does the pump need to be primed for the first use ? I only see one directional valve under the sink . No results in either directness. Help please ?

By adding H20 to the fresh water tank, the hot water tank will fill first (6 gals) and this can take some time. You should hear the pump coming on when you open the faucet inside the POD.

You have to fill the tank and turn on the pump. Then turn on the faucet. In will eventually bleed the air out of the system. You should hear the pump. If you are not get any water out of the faucet you have an air leak in the system (pump sucking air instead of water). If it was not winterized properly you might check water filter right at the pump( freeze up and cracks from residual water) and/or toilet valve same deal as filter. The easiest way to tell if and where leak is to hookup a hose( Potable water) and it will leak where broken. I know this from experience. Previous owner did not properly winterize mine and had to replace both. Parts is about $50 for both. Filter is easy in my trailer but toilet valve is pia. You have to remove toilet to replace. Good luck.

No, its a self-priming pump.

It will take over a minute for the pump to draw water from the fresh tank and pressurize the system.  Much longer if it must also fill the water heater.  I suggest that you start by only turning on the cold water tap at the kitchen sink.

The water pumps are extraordinarily reliable and are used in most every trailer and RV available from all manufacturers.

As far as "user error", two possibilities come immediately to mind:
  • You've turned the winterizing bypass valve.  There's a valve and a short length (3' or so) of plastic pipe on the intake side of the pump.  When winterizing, you dip the free end in a bottle of RV antifreeze and the pump draws the antifreeze into the system.  It should be fairly easy to tell if the valve is set incorrectly as there will be a good deal of suction from the free end of that short length of pipe.
  • The filter/strainer on the pump is loose (or missing).  Make sure that the threads are aligned and tighten it.
And, of course, there's the unspoken "are you sure that you've filled the fresh water tank?"

Apart from that, it may be time to return to your dealership.

You should get water from the cold water faucet immediately, if you don't the first thing to check is the winterization/antifreeze intake valve by the water pump.  If it is still set to suck up antifreeze you'll get nothing at the faucets.

It's working ! Thanks for your help. I wouldn't have known what or where to look without your help . I was able to find everything and rule them out as problems . It turned out to be a stuck pressure valve . It was probably caused by a newbie mistake of not using the pressure valve on the city water hose . My bad !

so yesterday i filled the hot water tank.  in years past, its always blew air out of the faucet for a while until it filled.  well yesterday it did not and i thought how strange!!  let the faucets run for quite awhile until i new for sure the hot water tank was filled.  woke up in the middle of the night and had a thought; i didnt turn my valves, thats why there was no sputtering!!!  good thing i didn't turn the heater on!!  hogone
