The furnace is a DC and LP hog, so if you'll use it often off-grid you should consider a 2nd tank.  We rarely did and rarely filled the single tank.

If you want to mount a decent bike rack on the back, you should consider having a welder reinforce the receiver.  Others have done that.

On Saturday I ended up putting my name on a new incoming 179. Now I need to sell my 2013 172.....Should get the new one at end of April or so. I will ask to have a WD hitch put on and upgrade the Fan-Tastic fan to the fanciest model with remote and thermostat because I don't see using the air conditioning unit much....

I hope my Volvo XC90 with 5000 pound limit will do ok as a TV because it towed my 172 great, but there is a weight increase.....time will tell if I made the right decision to get the 179.

We picked up our 179 @ Couch's in Ohio on Monday. Towed it back to Virginia with my 2014 Ford Explorer which also has a 5,000 lb. limit. Crossed the mountains in West Virginia & Blue Ridge Mountain in Virginia. Averaged 13 - 14 mpg.

A significant part of "the tow" is frontal area.. the 179 has the same as the 172. You may be a bit slower off the line with a few.. OK, quite a few more pounds.. but at speed, you should see/feel very similar. The rear profile is a bit less aero then the more pod shaped 172, but neither is as sleek as they would seem.
