2 dealer says, no, separate controller needs to be installed, 2 other dealers says, yes it has built in controller (no need to install after market brake controller ) .
So I'm confused. It does already have 7 way plug on the back. |

Any chance you can check your owners manual, towing section?

not clear really. The manual mention to apply the trailer brake manually. I just can't find the lever , or button anywhere to do this.
See the manual at: http://www.cadillac.com/content/dam/Cadillac/Global/master/nscwebsite/en/home/Owners/Manuals_and_Videos/03_pdf/2015_Escalade_Manual.pdf |

Section 9-78..."Electric Brake Control Wiring Provisions"...Based on what I see you need a brake controller, however, the vehicle is pre-wired for it to make it easy to install, given the correct wire harness it should be as simple as mounting the controller and then plugging it in.

The Escalade is a sister to the Chevy Tahoe. An integrated brake controller is an option on the Chevy truck platform (Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Avalanche) so I think both answers you received are right. It may be on one Escalade, but not the next. If it doesn't have it there is a wiring harness under the dash above the brake pedal.

Is the integrated controller an actual box that you can see, touch, and apply breaks manually? Or is it buried in the dash and controlled by some sort of GUI touch screen?

I just poked around on some Escalade forums and apparently it is NOT an option, even though it is an option on the Chevy and GMC sister platforms.

I have a Suburban with towing package, 3.42 rear axle, brake controller and transmission cooler. When you order the car with the appropriate towing package the brake controller is installed into the front dash below and left of the steering wheel. You'll know if you have one. There are some up/down buttons to control the amount of braking and a manual lever to test the system.
