Has anyone improved their mattress in their 'Pod? We have a 179 with the short queen mattress that came with it, and after a handful of trips, we realize we need something more comfortable.

There are foam toppers and other mattresses out there, and I know mattress firmness is a personal thing. What I am looking for are suggestions on what others have used and are happy with, brand names, retailers, etc.

What has me a bit baffled is the crazy pricing for short queen anything--sometimes twice as much as standard sizes. I don't mind paying for quality, but it looks like RV sized anything is code for "expensive." :)

Thanks in advance!

Our last TT we went to the Original mattress factory. They cut a high density foam (6 inches) to my measurements. You might price them out. There are others companies mentioned on the forums. I plan on checking them out again. That mattress worked excellent for us for over 10 years. Others have gone to a standard full size mattress, losing a few inches in width but same length. This way if you have a mattress at home you can get the same basic model that your currently using at home. Just remember that the surface is going to be a little bit harder than the box spring at your home.

Welcome.  We added a 3" memory foam topper.

We went to Ikea and bought a fouton cushion. It was cheap and fit perfect in the 182G. We rarely used the table, so it just stays in place.
I will say it is very firm. I think it's comfortable, but my wife would have preffered it to have a little more cushion. Definitely a departure from the Temperpedic at home. It has only been used on 12 camping trips, so it may break in more.

Tossed the one that came in my 178 and replaced it with this one from Amazon.  It hasn't seen much use yet but it wasn't much more expensive than some of the better toppers.  Almost anything would have been an improvement ;-)

Hey Rick! I bought the mattress you recommended from Amazon and we love it. Thanks for the response and the link to it on Amazon, much appreciated.

We just purchased our RPOD 179 last weekend and have already notice the bed beginning to develop a hump in the middle. We have a sleep number bed at home and noticed they make one for campers. Has anyone tried it? Is it worth the investment?
