All the reservation information is right here: TPWD: State Park Reservations

11 months (333 days) in advance so we could be booking now for October. All we need to do is choose a time and go for it!
Oct 21-24 ( Wednesday - Saturday Leaving Sunday ) ? 4 nights? Or??? Is that enough or do you want to stay the whole darn week there?

We should be booking now if possible (weekends get booked really really fast in these parks), if you have to cancel it will only cost you 5 bucks!

hogone, furpod, techntrek, kymosses, bueller, bueller, bueller, y'all coming out to Texas?Thumbs Up

Perfect, all we need now is some green grass, bare feet, and a kite!

My 2¢...What I like about Tyler SP is that is appears (I've never been there) to have it all AND we may get some of our Podder friends N & S & E (maybe even some out W)  to join us because it's not to far for them to go! Please, anyone who has been to Tyler State Park tell us what it's like!

It looks like there is a nice big lake for swimmers, boaters, and paddlers. It's big and has several pull through spots with full hookups! Fishing opportunities, no licence required, if you fish from the dock or the bank. Good facilities! Good hiking and biking! If we time it right, it looks like the fall colors could be really nice.

There are cabins, screened shelters, tent camping and of course, plenty of POD Spots!
Boat Rentals, Park Store, and Playgrounds!

I think the key here to a successful rally is getting a location and time frame set as early as possible so folks can get there reservation. The Texas State Park System is first come first served...no saves that I am aware of.

Well, why don't we start by everybody suggesting some places they like (or would like to experience). Some that have already been mentioned here & there:
  • Lake Tawakoni
  • Inks Lake
  • Tyler State Park
  • Port Aransas (Mustang Island)
  • South Padre Island (long, long drive for most folks)
  • Somewhere in the Hill Country (Bandera? Wimberly? Fredericksburg? Other?)
I'll volunteer to keep an updated list so we don't have to hunt through previous posts.  I'm guessing that, after a while, we'll all get tired of suggesting and want to make a decision.  Or maybe someone will just say "Hey, y'all, we'll be at xyz the weekend of mm/dd/yy.  Come on down!".

It could be that making it less formal & organized might be more fun.  The list of suggestions will still be useful, though; just about everyone knows of cool places that others may not.  MissyBuck & Podster have already given us some good ideas.  Bet others have some equally good ones.

Your thoughts, ideas?  Sure would be fun getting to meet y'all.

Sounds good and I agree Spring and fall are better months and easier for us to get vacation time off from work as well. I'll try to help if I can.

Great job on taking the initiative to set this up Podders!  Once you get something more firmly set in place let me know, I will add it to the Map and xpost it to the other online groups if you're interested.  There are a lot of Texas and surrounding Podders on the FB group who I am certain would be interested in a Rally out there ways!
