We bought our 2014 178 a year ago, put axle risers and larger tires on it, and enjoyed a 2 month trip from Michigan to Alaska and back in June and July. Our Pod kept us warm, dry and cozy; it protected us from vicious hailstorms, cool nights, rain and clouds and relentless sunny days. It was the perfect vehicle to pull throughout the Alaskan Highway, the Kenai, Alberta, British Columbia, the Yukon, Washington, Montana and home through Michigan. We had lots of visitors, people wanting tours and a "peek inside" and was proud to show off our little home away from home. We enjoyed visiting with a couple of fellow Pod owners along the way, sharing stories and ideas.

Once we were home we decided we were no longer a 2 RV family (we had a 30 foot 5th wheel in storage at home). So the decision was made to trade both the R Pod and the 2007 Cardinal in on a newer Grand Design Fifth Wheel. So our R Pod is gone but not forgotten. This group has been wonderful, with the ideas, mods, photos, camp reviews and general camaraderie that goes with dedicated campers. We had an issue with our entertainment system and fellow podders helped us find the problem. We asked for input on axle risers and podders stepped up with ideas and info. This is a great group and are a force to be reckoned with! We have enjoyed our year with you and wish you all the best. So if you are traveling along our beautiful American highways and a truck and fifth wheel blink their lights at you, that is probably us saluting you! We may even come over to your camping spot to ask for a "peek inside". Good luck and safe traveling to you all.

Very nice post but, gosh, just because you got a new rig doesn't mean you have to leave, does it?  Seems to me there's plenty of room in our forum for pleasant folks who enjoy RV-ing, be it Podding or bigger.  At least, that's my two pesos' worth.

But, if you have to leave, safe travels & be well.

Congrats on your new purchase.  I understand about not keeping 2 campers!  But like Luv2Q said, you are welcome to hang around.  We have many ex-podders around here.  I even know of one that stops by occasionally who has never owned a pod.

The suggestion has been made to create a sub-forum for the ex-podders.  Any other votes?

Once a Podder, always a Podder...that's my vote.

We no longer have a r-pod but still have not left the forum. Still enjoy others adventures and experiences with their r-pods and sometimes they are humorous and enjoy reading them. Your adventures with your 5th. wheel would be of interest to other r-pod owners,we are all campers.

Jan & Dean,
You mentioned that you put on larger tires on  your 178. What made you decide that & what was the benefit. Just got a 178 & was wondering?

We felt we needed the larger tires and axle risers due to the rough areas of the Alaskan Highway in the Yukon area. The extra clearance sure made a difference.

Jan & Dean,
Thank you for the reply. That makes sense.
