In reading the owners manual on that subject I end up being a little confused. Under "Battery Charging" it states that the converter also operates as a battery charger when it is connected to a 110 power source. It goes on to say that when charging a battery follow these safety precautions. A total of four, the first being to disconnect the battery from the RV. Is that intended ffor charging your battery ex the converter?

Under "Power Converter". The converter is used to switch 110 volt electricity from an external supply or from a generatorto 12 volt electricity. Does the converter, when connected to 110 volt  recharge my battery directly?

Thanks for your response.

While connected to shore power the converter works to charge the battery. I think the comment to disconnect from RV is if using a external charger.

Make sure you disconnect the battery from the pod between trips, if you don't leave the pod plugged in all the time.  Otherwise the LP detector and fridge control board will drain the battery in a week or two.  Then every 30 days reconnect the battery to the pod and plug the pod in overnight to recharge it.  Then disconnect the battery from the pod again.  Also charge overnight before each trip and after each trip.

I just pulled both my batteries for the Winter, and after one has just finished charging in the basement using a Norco Genius charger, I charge the other (do them separately). After I get the other one fully charged, I check the electrolyte levels with a portable refractometer pH tester, and also the water levels. Both are usually near perfect for the last year and a half.
I will top them off one more time in the Spring before re-installing them for my first camping trip (usually Memorial day weekend).  I hope to get many years of service life out of them.

While the self-discharge rate is slower if the batteries are cold, even if they are very cold they still should be topped off 1-2 times over that time period.  In a cool basement I would still go every 30 days.
