Good Day, All,

I would like to remove the dinette in a 178 and put in two reclining chairs of the "lazy boy" variety.

Has anyone done this mod and/or do you have any advice about accomplishing this task?  Wiring, plumbing, framing chalenges?

Thanks for your time.

Getting a normal-sized recliner through the door seems like it would be quite a challenge.

With the 178, it may be possible to pull the slide back one time to get the chairs in.

I would actually like to totally remove the dinette so that I would have room for the two chairs and comfortable seating for two, you know, the falling asleep in front of the TV kind of thing.

Had not thought about getting the chairs through the door............... need to get creative on that one!   Read somewhere about a Lazy Boy recliner that broke down into two pieces, the back lays on the seat, for travel purposes?

Getting past the door width-chair issue, are there other concerns with the construction innards, like wiring or plumbing?

Pulling a wired and plumbed slide would not be for the faint of heart, or worth the effort in my opinion. I have seen a slide that was JUST a couch and closet pulled.. it ain't perty. They do make recliners just for RV's, I assume they either come apart or fold to fit through the doors..

the under dinette on the 178 is wide open...looks like there might be one outlet a some wiring to relocate, no problem.
