Calendar Event: Pod covers for the 179 Posted: 25 Sep 2014 at 11:49am |
I thought I saw this topic before but my search didn't find it. Winter is coming to the PNW and not having a carport I will be needing a cover for the Pod. Some of the covers I have seen online don't have the access to the door match up. Is there a specific cover that fits the 179 and door matches?

The Forest River cover is the best. Canvas, door opening and very sturdy.

Only Forest River sells one that will fit a 179 currently. I'm sure Classic Accessories will have one this time next year but for now it's only Forest River.

An option until then is to just cover over the roof with a tarp. I wouldn't do the whole thing to ensure air flow. Or leave it uncovered. 5 years and I've never used a cover (I did use a tarp over the top for a month, to keep it clean after I scrubbed it but before we left for a trip). Needs a good scrub in the spring but it has always come out fully white.

your 178 cover which you got on Amazon by Classic Accessories will not fit a 179 though, but yes there are great prices there on the cheaper covers for other sizes of Pods.

Well I went ahead and ordered a pod cover from amazon because the cover on the forest river site had a Classic Accessories logo and the part number was the same. If it does't fit then I will deal with that later.

Others have ordered the largest cover from Classic Accessories for a 179, and have had to return it! Forest River "now" just recently sources all of their other Rpod Covers from Classic Accessories as well so all old Pod covers are now covered by that company as well as sold by Forest River. Classic Accessories has not yet made a cover that will fit a 179, thus, Forest River still has their former cover still available for that Pod model only. Until Classic Accessories makes one to fit the 179 the Forest River one will be the only one that fits correctly.

We have a 2015 179 and after doing some research and getting conflicting information as to whether the 20 ft Classic Cover on Amazon would fit a 179 or not, I rolled the dice and ordered one. This was done recognizing that the roll up door on this cover would not be in the correct location for the 179 (this was not a deal breaker for us since we do not plan on accessing the pod when stored). The wife and I did a trial fit this weekend and for what its worth, the cover seemed to fit fine and the quality seemed good.
