For those of you who have replaced the anode rod on their water heaters, what type did you use?
Did you use a Suburban Anode rod or another brand, magnesium or aluminum? Also why did you pick a particular type/brand over the other ones available? Thanks, Cody91 |

Recently replaced mine after 5 years, even though it was still 90% good. I'm fairly certain I used the Suburban anode rod.

I too desire to know about the aluminum or magnesium. I believe the suburban rod I saw on amazon did not say what the material was. I am a plumber, but these trailers are a "whole 'nother world" as far as plumbing goes. We plumbers typically use magnesium rods as anodes to protect the life of steel water heaters. BUT isn't the water heater most of us have in the camper made of stainless steel?
The anode just has to be a lower quality metal than the protected metal. Metalurgy anyone? |
