I am planning this as well. Just gathering my thoughts and parts for a bit first.

Well I took the plunge and put in a permanent mod! My wife was unsure about my putting it in but it came out well. I went with basically the same setup as a member from "the other site" lol with the Roth and Allen shelf. My set up was a bit more challenging as I wasn't able to find molly bolts at Lowes even after asking. They did have toggle bolts so I figured why not. Well long story short use the molly bolts, the toggle ones are fine but it's a challenging fit with the balancing act of attaching the shelf and stuff. On a separate note the L brackets at the store had to modified to work which was kind of a pain. Overall though it looks really good and is super sturdy. Here are some pics for individuals thinking about doing this mod themselves.
The top and below pic show the struggles of the L bracket adjustment. Had to straighten it out a good bit. Makes me wish I had a garage lol. Eventually got them where I wanted so the shelf would be level as well as flattening it out more. Finished product came out well, now we can store some clothes and other misc items above the bed instead of under it. |

Thanks I think that's the route I'll go. Much appreciated! Now any thoughts on the spare tire bike mount on the back anyone? |

Ouch! Hope not. I did have one bounce off the wallmount coming home Thursday.

We had a couple of the 3M hooks pull the vinal face loose from the paneling.

As a counter point, we use the 3M hooks and have never had one come off the wall, even when holding multiple wet "sheet" sized towels.

Yesterday after returning home from only 1.5 hours on the road, I discovered my 3M adhesive, the style that the hook slides up on the mounted piece, had vibrated off and cutting mats were across the counter. Definitely use a molly bolt style for support. Something as simple as 3M vibrated enough to separate and left the mount on the wall.

Woah cool some different things I hadn't seen before as far as Ideas go. My biggest concern is actually just drilling into the wall. Guess I'll start small and see how far after the initial hole before the final wall to go with the molly bolt. Thanks again all, super useful!

I just put a wire shelf over that area. I used the valence as support across the back.....just laid it on the valence, and then secured the two ends with a screwed in slider bar. I should take a picture.
How do I load a pic?

I borrowed from the ideas of many more experienced than me (including Outbound and Techntrek). Just a hint that might help... The search function here is pretty good, but if you go to Google and search the following, you might find a bunch of good ideas. rear shelf site:rpod-owners.com https://www.google.com/webhp?q=rear+shelf+site:rpod-owners.com Hope that helps. fred |
