Ditto to HappyCamper's observations about Couch's & Ray.  We bought a 171 from them & made the drive from Central Texas to pick it up.  I'd have done it again when we bought the 180 but it was January & I was a little nervous about the weather.  Bought instead from a semi-local dealer (100 miles away) who gave us Couch's price adjusted for transportation.  Looking back, wish we'd have gone with Couch's.  Why?  The local yokels are clueless about Pods.  We were explain things to them on the walkthrough.  Not a good situation.

We picked up our 2017 178 this past weekend from Couch's, they seemed to want to help but the walkthrough was fast because it was Sat. and they wanted to go home.  I suppose I can understand that.  We stopped at a campground (Singing Hills) at Cave City on the way back to try out the pod, no problems so far.  Will go to Tim's Ford this coming weekend to test it out some more.
Projects take longer than expected, cost more than expected and will go wrong at the worst time.

We pick up our 180 this Friday.
Maybe we'll run into each other at Monte Sano some time.
Actually quite a few Pods in Huntsville (and about to be 1 more) Smile

Hi Bama Pod, We are going to Tim's Ford this weekend to catch some fall colors.  Don't know if I want to pull the pod up Monte Sano with a Santa Fe.  It did OK in the hills between here and Cleveland, but Monte Sano is a much harder pull.

Hope there are colors there.
As you know with the drought we've had exactly squat here in town.
Either way, enjoy Tim's Ford!!!

We picked up our 178 from RVN this past Sat and towed it 400 miles home.  The people at the dealer installed the ball for the anti-sway bar, I had the tab for the ASB hitch ball welded to my hitch.  We had no sway at all.  Hitch height of new RPODS is 20 inches, and provides more ground clearance than pods of the past.  On my TV the top of the ball is right at 20 inches off the ground, and the pod was a tad nose down, which is perfect for towing.  Other than that, look at the pod carefully for obvious errors.  They will do a walkthrough and explain everything, but it will be fast since they want to go home on Saturdays.  I still don't know how some things work on our pod since there's no owner's manual for the pod itself.  Lots of appliance manuals tho.  When you stop for the night, and before you unhitch the pod, chock the tires.  Ours wanted to roll a bit even though the site we stopped overnight at looked level.

Never unhitch before you chock the wheels.  Check the lug nut torque before every trip (and every 50 miles the first 200 miles).  Check the tire pressure before every trip, inflate the tires to the pressure shown on the tire's sidewall.

Does the grand caravan tow the rpod trouble free?
How fast can you go on interstates?
Is the tongue weight of the rpod a problem?
Is after market sway control needed?
Is a weight distribution device needed?
Is after market cooling needed for trans or engine?
Can you tow through the rocky mountains?

My tow vehicle: 2016 Grand Caravan
Rpod considering towing: 177, 178, 179, or 180
