The camper world uses the National Electric Code color conventions.  White is the "grounded conductor", which on the 12 volt system means the negative connection, or the neutral on the 120 volt system.  Black is the hot leg, meaning the positive for 12 volts.  Although they got confused on mine and put a red cable on mine.

The automotive world uses the old style red for + and black for - .
