I was looking at the water pump to understand how to winterize, as there's a small chance we could get a freezing snap, I'm a bit confused by what I've found. It seems like the water pump is mounted in the worst possible orientation, as the intake is on the back side, and there's just no easy way to get at it, much less unscrew the tube.

I don't see any bypass, the tube coming in from the floor goes through the floor to water tank.  Should I rotate the pump 90 or 180 degrees? As this is our first camper, entirely possible I am missing something, but just seems like pump is mounted horribly.

Would rotating be as simple as removing the 4 screws, turning and re-mounting? If I rotate is there any preferable orientation of the in/out and electric lines?

Thanks for info.

I would move the pump onto the floor and put some sound deadening material under the pump, also I would insulate all the tubing to quiet the noise down.

If you want something done right, do it yourself.

If that's the intake on the back side, yes, I would move it.  The newer pods don't have the winterization valve.  Instead you are supposed to unscrew the intake line to then screw on a short tube to suck in the antifreeze.  So moving the pump is a must.

Our 2014 178 has the winterization valve. Built January, 2014. Anyone know when they did away with the valve?
