We're new to travel trailers, and are very excited about our purchase, an R Pod 179. We know there will be a big learning curve and lots of questions. First one-we have a Ford Explorer. Will we have to replace the regular mirrors with larger ones??

Thanks!

Welcome.  Unlikely you'll need towing mirrors.  The pods are narrow, with the outside of the body lying inside the width of the trailer tires.  Full-sized trucks can easily see down both sides.

My girl friend and I both getting back in to camping after over 20 years. Picked up our 179 this past Saturday ready for winter to be over in central NY so we can get started. Still need to outfit everything inside now. Both of us very excited about our 179.

Congrats. Check under Events and Campouts for the 2014 Pacific Northwest Rpod Roundup. Have over 15 Pods attending with lots of mods to look over. Safe Travels.

I use a pair of plastic add-on mirrors on my Silverado. Standard mirrors are okay but the added 5"-6"  shows me what's right behind me. Helps with backing up too. Not essential equipment since the pod is narrowish, but gives you a little bit more to see. It's a personal thing. Like having a dog. Or a different mattress.

the 179 has a whole pantry area along with a closet and tons of storage under the kitchen cabinets.
