Hello R-Pod owners.  I have been looking at the R-pod for a few years now and I am close to taking the plunge and buying one.  Since I live in CA I would be buying the West Coast version and I will be towing it with my Expedition.  It would be myself, my wife our 4 soon to be 5 year old son using it.  Does anyone know when the 2015 models will be available?  Will there be any big changes from the 2014 models?  I am trying to decide whether to go ahead and buy the 2014 177 model or wait to see what the 2015 model has to offer.

You can save a lot of money if you buy the previous model year after the new models start showing up on the dealers lot. I doubt there will be many changes from the 2014 models to the 2015 models. It would be a personal decision perhaps someone may have some information on possible changes for the 2015's.

Travel trailers have 2 "dates" so to speak.. model years, and model changes. It's pretty hard to know what's coming up.. But history has shown that it's best to buy a pod that has what you want, when you want, and not get to wrapped up about "model year". We have camped with other "2011 177's" and they are not all the same. Because they are all the same model year but not all the same build series. The SOONEST any rumors will start coming out about changes, will PROBABLY be no sooner than the International Rally in August.

I'd guess the 179 is a 2014 model, and it's just now being delivered.  Why wait?

The mid-model year seems to me to be the best time to purchase an R-Pod.  I waited until October 2014 to order mine, which was after several improvements were made in the 178.  These "newer releases" of the 278 and others included the fabric blinds, pull-out rinser in the the kitchen faucet, keyless entry, risers, entertainment center and a host of other goodies not available in the earlier 2014 models.  I also waited until I was sure all the "bugs" were eliminated in the earlier models, including correcting the ever-present leaks in the clearance light spoiler.  I love the added features in my later run of the 178's.

I am not the best typist, especially after 2 in the morning.  Thanks for catching the error, Doug.

I have spoken with a dealer recently. A mid-April 'sale' on their lot will reduce 2014 inventory to make room for 2015 models arriving in May. He said there would be no price increase on 2015 models, which seems to indicate that there are no new features--it's simply a model year changeover. R-Pod manufacturers tend to incorporate improvements during the model year whenever they wish, so in that sense it makes no difference to wait. I suppose from a re-sale standpoint, having a newer model year unit might pay off better down the road, but note that the 179 was released a couple of months ago as a 2014 model and it's selling extremely well.
