Have been RV's since the early 90's in a tent, tent trailer, a 20' Komfort 5th wheel, a 29.5' Hitchhiker 5th wheel (TV was a GMC 2500 HD) and a Tioga 31" class c.

RVed mainly in CA, NV, OR, plus lengthy trips to Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Devils Tower, Deadwood, Rocky Mountain Natl. Park, and several cross country trips.

Moved to FL in '11 and sold the RV for different toys. Now, several years later have recognized that wife & I really miss the RV life and are now in process of selling other "toys" and exploring "down sized" RV's to rejoin the RV'ers in 2014.

Our TV will be a '12 Cadillac SRX (with a tow pkg) and the 178 seems to be a great fit, perhaps. We have just begun the assessment of the TV with various RV's and are seriously leaning towards the RPod.

We're located in Flagler County, FL and It's nice to see several forum members that are nearby.

We're planning on attending the RV shows during next month in the Central/Northern FL area for dealers and models. Any info from members would be appreciated.

Have enjoyed reading posts from other members on their experiences in purchasing their RPods and their RV'ing experiences.

Hopefully 2014 will be the year we be come Podders!

Welcome, Dusty.  Your RV history parallels ours during 2001-2002.  We had been RVing for years when we decided to purchase a new 34' Class A with 2 slides.  At the time, we lived in NW Indiana, planning on continuing our semi-annual trips to Florida and back.  In December, 2001, we purchased a lot here in Titusville, in a new gated community with half of our lot extending out into a 7 acre lake.  Construction began almost immediately and we were in our new home in July, 2002.  By the end of 2003, we sold our MH and our Yukon that we no longer needed.  In 2013, we bought a used R-Pod and moved up to a new 178 in November.  In December we found a used Chevrolet Avalanche with very low mileage and in mint condition.  It just goes to prove that even after 11 years of being without an RV, you never really lose your interest in camping.  I am 74, but slowly being rejuvenated by returning to our old life style, although on a much smaller level.

Hi Sleepless, Yes is seems there are parallels. Before we retired in 09 we would camp in the state (CA & NV) and National campgrounds throughout the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains and the CA costal and desert areas with family and friends. 2 of our favorite costal areas were Wrights Beach and Doran Beach both in Bodega Bay and Pismo Beach, both on the beach and in RV parks. 2 of our mountain "go to" places were Prosser Lake view, near Truckee, CA and Jackson Meadows, about 25 miles north of Truckee.

After we get the Pod, we would enjoy attending a "gathering" of Central FL members if one could be arranged.

Regards, Dusty

Dusty: Welcome: We are somewhat like you. have looked at the 178 but are leaning towards the new 179 that will be at our dealer in early to mid Feb. We both seem to like the bit more interior storage area and the redesigned kitchen area. However to each his and more importantly HER own mind. MY feeling is as long as DW is happy the DH can deal with anything. We had a 178G before and loved the Pod experience and the quality.
Good Luck and keep us posted

Sorry it was a 182G.....mind must be going. We sold it, long story but the house and a large in ground pool, large acreage etc was getting to be a problem to leave for any extended time. All that is gone now as we downsized to a townhouse complex where all the exterior is taken care of...freedom !!!

The 179 is pretty cool, personally after being used to our garage we would never give it up.  Not even for all the storage space of the 179.

Looks like a nice floor plan but it still has the worlds smallest bathroom.
