On our new Vibe I have noticed from the front corner to the back corner a distance of about 17 feet the body of the trailer is mounted to the frame on a angle a difference of 1 1/8". The axle is off center measuring from the front coupling to the wheels by a 1/4 ". My question would either one affect the direction of the trailer when towing enough to be concerned about. The front V cap is off center by 1 3/16" you can easily see with your eye it is off center to one side from the front frame of the hitch. It looks like there is no way to make any adjustments with the body secured to the frame with out dismantling the inside of the trailer all the bolts are under the floor. You never know everything you need to look at when buying a trailer you learn as you go.     David

I asked the same question about the axle a few months ago, I found mine wasn't square.  The consensus was it wasn't a problem.  http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=3865

Thank you techntrek the axle doesn't sound like it will be a problem. The body of the trailer not mounted square with the frame I will have to live with. Being a wood worker I like everything measured square and even. As long as the axle does not want to go one direction and wind want to push the trailer in another direction to much it should be fine. Sailing a boat the angle of a sail to the wind helps move the boat in one direction and that is what is in my mind the trailer going at a angle and the wind hitting more on one side. But I do not think or hope it is that much of a angle to affect the direction of the trailer.        David

Watch your tire wear.  I think that will be your best clue to a problem if there is one.  As long as it pulls okaym, having the box on the frame a little crooked shouldn't be an issue.

I don't understand the physics, but I pulled some pretty catterwonkle trailers and they've done fine.

a little off subject, but similar.  on my last trip, for some reason i noticed that one of my tires (left side) is not centered under the fender, very close (and I mean close) to the front of the fender, very close to the wires underneath it.  so i don't know if the fender was not mounted evenly, or if the axle is not mounted straight.  it doesn't seem to be as bad when the slide is out, so maybe pulling the slide in pulls on the fender.  hope all this makes sense.   haven't done any accurrate measurements, but still concerning.  hogone

Catterwonkle might be a good name for our trailer.Ermm  David
