I usually dry camp at places where water availability is iffy, so need to haul water with me.  Since I prefer to take separate containers for drinking and cooking water, I rarely need a full tank of water.  The Pod water gauge is useless as far as I'm concerned.  So, I wonder if anyone has used a water flow meter on a hose to get an accurate measure of water in the tank?  Are they pretty accurate and can you recommend a brand? Thanks.

The water level gauges in the Pod are not be useless if you calibrate them. I did this for  the gray and black tanks and it could be done for the fresh tank. I found that 2 lights was approx 1/4 full, 3 lights approx 1/2 full, 4 lights approx 3/4 full. Knowing the size of the tanks you can convert to actuall amounts. You calibrate the gauges by using a jug of known capacity such as a 5 or 6 galln water jug, smaller if you're a wee person Tongue. Pour water from the known jug into the tank and record the number of lights lit. The fresh water tank on Pods is 30 gallons. Note the FR brochure states fresh water capacity as 36 gallons, but that includes the 6 gallons in the water heater.

You can also use the known jug method to calibrate a garden hose flow rate. Just time how long it takes to fill the jug. For instance, my hose flows at 7 gallons per minute. Then, when I want to start a trip with a few gallons of fresh water I run the hose 30 seconds and have 3.5 gallons in the tank.

I am a wee person I use a one gallon jug. Smile We are on a well and using our outside hose conection the sulfur water will turn the alarm on in the trailer. So I fill one gallon at a time from the kitchen sink takes time but the house water has been through the treatment system removing the sulfur smell. David

I hate the "egg water smell", had to put a whole house filtration system in to get rid of it when we lived in Illinois. Not cheap, but well worth it. Goose

Thanks--an easier solution than trying to find the right meter for the job.

They do make hose adapters that screw into the kitchen faucet, replacing the aerator, then just use your RV water hose to the tank..

Or buy a filter which goes on the hose and then all the water is filtered.

That is the easiest and best recommendations.  We always use a quality disposable filter on the end of our water hose.  We use a 90 degree hose fitting between the filter and the water hose inlet on the pod.

How about just looking under the trailer at the water in the tank. It is translucent and visible -- on mine at least, your mileage may vary.
