Use it all the time, including doing a turkey breast for our thanksgiving dinner out camping last fall.  Use the metal plate when cooking in convection or conv/micro combination modes but make sure to remove it if you are just going to use the microwave by itself ... microwaves and metal do not mix.  The programming takes a bit of time to figure out but it isn't too complicated.  The instruction book that comes with it is informative for about the first 2 uses and then got set aside.  As others have stated cooking in a convection oven is slightly different than cooking in a regular oven.  When cooking less than 15 minutes and 350 degrees it runs pretty much true to a regular oven, but if you are going to cook hotter or longer than that you will normally need to make some adjustments to either your cooking time (shorter) or temp (cooler).

It was a huge selling point to us when we were looking, and to me is much more flexible than the small gas ranges that you find in some trailers.

I remember at sometime there was a change in the brand of the micro/convection oven does anyone know what year they made the change. The older r-pods have a Sylvania,  I think the different models work about the same. David

Our second hand 2012 177 did nor have a microwave/convection installed, and we bought a Doetic from Campers world that fits perfectly.  Looks just like it belongs. so far have just used the microwave-will have to try some chocolate chips for the grandkids.

Clean them well, pat dry with paper towels.  Coat with oil and spread flat on a cookie sheet (at home) or oven-safe plate (for the pod).  Salt to taste.  I always forget the exact temp/time but I think around 300-325 for 15-20 minutes.

Took me 10 minutes to realize what it was you were talking about.  Got it now, thanks for the info.  Can't wait to do some test runs this Halloween season!

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you!Confused

Our 178 (manufactured 11/2013) came with a Sunbeam convection microwave Model #22202.  However, an owner's guide was not included and I have not found one online.  Is this a common omission by FR?  Any suggestions of another publication I can refer to for generic information?

Then there are the 'odd ones' like us who special ordered our 177 w/o  A/C or the microwave or the entertainment center because we normally camp in National Parks or dry camp where there is no electricity.  We still feel like kings and queens after moving from a pop-up for many years.

We have found the oven handy on several occasions so far.  We don't have a microwave at home, so the novelty of microwave popcorn is fun for the kids.  We've tried the basics.  I need better cookware than just foil for it. It is worth having it even if you only use it occasionally - especially on rainy days.

Don't worry about the smell at first...

The microwave/convection oven is awesome. No, there are no instructions - even online! We use the convection oven just like a regular oven except it takes a little bit shorter time to cook regular recipes. You'll have to just experiment a bit. Once you figure out how to set it, that's the trick, (there are some vague instructions on the door of ours), you'll love it.

There is this, which may help:

Personally, I plan on using my new Weber Q more than the oven. If it can't be BBQ'd is it really worth eating? Big smile
