Hitting a curb is easy to do if you have not towed much before. It is easy to forget that the trailer turns tighter that the TV.

Curbs, sometimes a bad enough pothole at speed can damage them. That is the actual axle..

The hubs and spindles can be damaged by maladjusted/malfunctioning brakes, loss of grease, improper adjustment of bearings after a repack..

This particular axle and type of axle has been in use for a long time. It's what Airstream has used forever. (Edit.. Airstream has used Dexter torsion axles since at least '69 I KNOW for sure)

There are 1000's of pods out there, the pod users are a pretty vocal/connected group, so you hear more about any problems. I would bet washing machines have a way higher problem rate.. but who belongs to the "Frigidaire Gallery Appliance Users Group"?

I just looked at the pictures on facebook. Looks like damage not defective axle. Usually when you bend an axle on a trailer it is from overloading and the axle bows in the middle. The wheels will toe in at the top. I have had this happen to me. On this one the right side wheel is pushed back. I don't think that can be caused by loading. Maybe it hit a curb or something at speed. I would love to see a picture of torsion arm and the axle between the mount and torsion arm. I suspect that is where the damage is.

Just read on the facebook page that another couple has a problem with a bent axel on the pod. This is the third such problem I've read about between the forums and facebook. What's with the axel on the pod? Anybody have a clue? Sounds expensive and dangerous.Confused
