Topic: Wasps!!!! Posted: 18 Jun 2013 at 8:07am |
Yesterday I decided to take the propane tank off my Pod and take it into be refilled. I started to remove the cover and suddenly I am surrounded by a swarm of wasps. It appears that they had built a nest under the propane tank cover. I was not stung but I am sure the neighbors thought it was funny to see me running across my front lawn waving my hands like a crazy person. Broke out my Bee and Wasp insecticide and sprayed the nest down. No more wasps.

My cover is full of them quite often. I'm always careful turning the propane on and off.

I'm sure your neighbors had a real gas watching you run across your lawn.

In an effort to avoid being the main entertainment for the neighborhood, is there any real reason for covering the LPG tank?

No, it is just cosmetic. My cover flew off on the highway a few years ago. I retrieved it but never put it back on.

No wasps yet, but last year I didn't get the velcro just right after turning off.. birds nest was my reward.. and all the crap they used for their nest is still stuck to the inside of the felt lined cover..

yep same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. also we were heading out for a one nighter last week and a sparrow had built a nest in my spare tire cover. I saw leaves hanging down and started to remove the leaves and on no, yuck, I broke the eggs.
