Donna and I were headed out for a Thursday and Friday night short pod trip. As usual I had ever thing covered until I checked the L P gas level gauge and it was on empty. I went inside and the Fridge light was flashing on the gas setting. We had a thunderstorm and I think a power surge reset the fridge to l p gas. I did not turn the gas valve off after our first outing and I think the fridge ran until it was out of gas. "note to self" TURN OFF THE GAS WHEN POD IS PARKED.

I found the problem today. Gas tank was turned off and the (aftermarket) lp gas gauge said E. I opened the valve and the gauge went up to full. I shut off the valve on the tank and watched the needle on the gauge slowly go to E. This tells me there is a leak down stream from the shut off valve. I took the aftermarket gauge off and wiped the o rings and wetted them with a light oil. Put the connections back together and opened the valve and watched the needle go to full, shut off the valve and it stayed on full. The problem could have been two fold, the fridge coming on and a leak at the gauge. Turn the shut off valve off when not in use period.

One of the first things on my checklist to do when leaving a campground is to turn off the gas and set the reefer to battery.  With our tow package from GM it includes a charge line from the TV to the trailer.  When we arrive home, I had a 30 amp line added to the side of the garage and we change over from battery to 110v.  Always keep drinks, some stuff in the freezer, etc. for the next trip.  We almost always find a full hookup so although I turn on the gas when camping, it's only for the burners to heat the water for coffee and the water heater.  However, someone suggested that you can heat the water in the heater exclusively with the electric element, thereby saving gas.  Will try that next time.  Hope that helps.  Safe Travels.

It wasn't me who said that, but I can tell you that we have never used the gas heater on the water and have only used electric ... and it works great for our uses!

How long does it take from cold to hot on electric only?  Just an estimate is fine.  Last year we used both to heat the water, but electric only would work for us.  Safe Travels.
