I have a 2013 Pathfinder w/ Tow Package and it does extremely well up mountains in WVA. The CVT is extremely smooth and since it has no gears, it doesn't spend time searching up down the range as a regular transmission would. My only complaint is the soft rear suspension. With a WDH it's not bad, but there are no aftermarket upgrades available.
Mileage towing varies between 12-14 MPG

I agree, the weight might be to much.

If you mean adding to the rear of the pod, I wouldn't.  It has a lightweight frame.

Why not just weld a 24 inch of receiver trailer 1.25 steel to the bottom of the spare tire holder?  I tow with a Jeep Grand Cherokee.  Appears to be plenty of room for the mod.
