Does anyone know how the kitchen counter top is secured to the cabinets. And does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement. My wife would like a larger sink and want to replace the particle board that is there now. I thought of going to Lowe's to see what they have. Any help would be appreciated.  Thank You     David and Danette

The countertop is screwed on from the under side, you have to take out the drawers , take of the door and kinde sorte crawel in there to unscrew it. As far as replacement counter, there all made of particle board unless custom made, I made mine out of 3/4" plywood and put on laminet.

I really wish they didn't make them in particle board.  Nothing like putting particle board right where it will get damaged by water if it soaks into the edges.

Lots of screws from underneath is all like Marwayne said.

When I took ours out there was 1 screw that I couldn't reach for the life of me, I eventually cut my old countertop out and then was able to reach that last screw in the far corner.

If you want to change the countertop you have to take out the sink and cooktop, than you can reach the screwes through the openings.

marwayne what size sink did you install. I was at Lowes today and I seen one my wife and I liked but it may be to large. I will need to measure the clearance under the cabinet.   David

Aye, I already had my stove and sink both out, just couldn't reach one in the far right corner.  Just couldn't reach it no matter how I twisted, turned, or how many extensions I used.

Still got it off though in the end!  Big smile

I was able to remove the counter top and have a new sink and faucet on order. The new counter  and table top will be made using Baltic birch plywood. Forest River would have saved those some money and work wanting better construction as far as the counter tops by using plywood. Next trailer we buy will have no particle board. I guess as far as I know that leaves Forest River out unless they change and use plywood instead of particle board. Have been considering Evergreen or Cruiser RV as a choice they use no particle board anywhere in there trailers, I have been told. Hopefully all will turn out better with a stronger counter and table that will not be damaged by water and we will have a larger sink. And who ever may have our trailer in the future when we decide to sell it will be happier.   David
