Topic: Out of storage into snow Posted: 02 May 2013 at 12:42am |
I finally got our r-Pod* out of the storage barn yesterday and towed it home. The temperature had actually reached a seasonably warm and pleasant 70 degrees or so. About the time I got the battery hooked up, it started to rain. That was about 28 hours ago. It's rained off and on ever since, and it's coming down pretty steady now. The problem is that the temperature has dropped to less than half of what it was last night, which brings it into freezing territory, and we're expected to get 6 to 10 inches of snowfall between now and Friday. WILL THIS NEVER END??????????
*Meanwhile, I would like a show of hands. Is it redundant to say "our r-Pod," like I did in the first sentence? It's a lot harder to say "our r-Pod" than it is to read it. If you put the accent on r ('r-Pod), you'll probably have to slow down to say "our" ahead of it; and, if you put the accent on Pod (r-'Pod), it sounds like you said "our" twice. So, select your preference:
1. "I finally got our rPod out of the storage barn yesterday and towed it home."
2. "I finally got rPod out of the storage barn yesterday and towed it home."
If you'll humor me with this little survey, maybe you can help get my mind off the weather.

We call it "the pod".. since we only have one.. easier on the tongue. LOL at the weather. I was born in the cities, still have lots of family in the Pine county area. I don't ever go back. My brother whines that we "never come home".. I just laugh at him and point out we were camping weeks ago, done mowed the lawn 3-4 times already.

Here at home Mother Goose and I simply call it "the trailer" although we do have a small tilt bed trailer, that one is called "the flat bed trailer." I do like Sammy's #2...r'POD.
Now on the weather front....80 yesterday afternoon, 60 by dinner time and this morning 40 with a predicted 1 to 3 inches of that dirty "S" word for later this afternoon and evening. The cover is still on r'POD next to the barn and will be for a while longer. Goose

This is an "r" pod. It is "our" pod. You are welcome to come into "our" pod and look around, or you can just take pictures of "r" pod if you prefer. "R" pod is a great brand, and we love "our" pod very much.

Thanks to everyone who played along with my little word game and provided a little distraction from the weather. The predictions fell a bit short. We got 14 inches of snow on May 2nd, and that beat the previous record for snow in a single May day here by a foot. Schools were closed, of course, and it made for a severely disrupted workday for all; but, in spite of lots of cars getting stuck and sliding off the road, no severe accidents were reported. The snow was so heavy that it broke tree branches all around the area, and resulted in plenty of down power and phone lines. Things warmed up considerably today - into the low 50's - and we can actually see some patches of green here and there. The curved roof of our pod (I'm staying flexible about the wording) shed snow pretty readily, and I plan to de-winterize it as soon as I can unbury a hose and run it across some bare lawn. There may even be some hope for using the camping reservation we have for Mother's Day weekend.
