Just bought a small Champion generator (L18"X15"X15" and 58 lbs) and I want to carry it on the trailer tongue. I plan to put a metal shelf behind the propane tank and put the 2 batteries in a box and the generator in another one. Has anyone else done anything like this?

OuchAre there any regulations about having an electrical device such as a generator sitting adjacent to a propane tank?  I thought about doing the same and then realized that if the propane tank/hose ever developed a leak, I would be living next to a bomb.  One forum member had mentioned having a varmint chew through the rubber propane hose.

I plan to remove the generator from the tongue when I use it. I'll then let it cool before I replace it. Thanks for the pic and blog reference. They have given me some ideas to chew on.

Definitely a good idea to move it to the ground during use.  Otherwise the vibrations through the pod's frame will amplify the sound.  Not a good way to sleep.  Chain it to the tongue for security.

My gen. is build in, to eliminate noise and vibration I lift the gen. by about 1/4-1/2" with a bottle jack it works great.

Is that the bottom of your trailer? Do you have other pics of where the generator is installed?

The gen. is in a box in the back of the trailer. I also diverted the exhaust to the ground to reduce the noise.
