Wow, the mattress must really, really suck to try and sleep on! We actually have a queen-sized Coleman deep air mattress (6" deep") that we have been using for our tent camping, and we are planning on using it for now in the Pod. Just inflate when we get there and deflate when ready to leave, and we can pretty much leave it unrolled and laid out on the bed. That should work well for us during the winter camping months, and we already have a set of sheets for it and lots of extra blankets to throw on top of us.
Knowing the misses, though, I'm sure that next year we may very well be looking for something along the lines of a nice feather or memory foam topper to replace the air mattress with. Just gonna have to wait until I'm done spending money on all the other accessories we want first!

I did not find the mattress that bad really. when camping you are pooped out by the time you hit the bed. I got the memory foam to put a little padding on top of it. I am not talking about the really expensive memory foam, this is about 6" thick.
it is a pain to make up the bed, I just spread 2 top sheets sheets on it and cover it up with a coverlet and put pillows around the back, looks homey. In summer I sleep on top of the coverlet, might have a light quilt handy for wee hours. I just wash the coverlet after a trip since I have a dog on it too, now will be 2 dogs. amazing how much you can spend on this and thats! Comet looks like he/she enjoys camping, what dog doesn't.....

We just added memory foam on top of the factory mattress. Then we sleep in sleeping bags, no bed to make up every day. |

Darlene makes the bed, which is quite a hassle without walk around. We sleep quite well on the factory matress. Our only real complaint about the bed is having to climb over one another to make the late night pit stops.
