I would think that efficiency of the furnace and fridge and stove would suffer some. less oxygen less energy but I don't know by how much. In theory you would use more gas to create the same amount of heat. I can't prove this I live at 17 Meters or 55 Feet above sea level.

Some things like generators can have problems at high altitude, I was just curious if it applied to the propane stuff.

We just came back down from about 8,000 feet for the last 4 days with no propane problems, either. Safe Travels.

Doug, do you expect propane problems at altitude? Last September we camped in the pod for 8 days at 11,500 feet with no trouble at all. It took a while for the furnace to start for the first time ever, but once it did it was regullar as can be. We always had hot water and the cook top was fine.

We used to camp there in the late 70s early 80s, with our tent, some plastic sheeting against summer t'storms, and our canoe and yellow Lab. . All Crammed into and on top of a Corolla station wagon! What gorgeous country!! Such wonderful memories, and yummy rainbows from the little lake. We camped at each of the NFS campgrounds along the Rim. Enjoyed them all, most of the time we were almost alone back then. I remember one time driving along the Rim road with hail drifts over two feet high along the road. One time a B-52 bomber cruised totally silent, just feet I've our heads- what an experience- ghostly monster so close we felt we could touch it!
Envy your opportunitiesout there on the rim!! |

We traveled through Flagstaff on the 20th of Sept. and saw a POD going north on I-17 as we turned south from I-40 headed down to Oak Creek Canyon for a night in Sedona. Love the Rim but not going to make it back up there this year. Just got internet this afternoon, don't ask why!!!!!! Could have used a little help from teckntrek but had no way to e-mail him. Goose

All gas appliances worked fine. I imagine at that elevation they are not burning very efficient, but I really didn't notice anything different. Furnace worked fine as well as the hot water and stove.
