Topic: New Podder 182-G Posted: 22 Mar 2012 at 9:51pm |
Hello All, Wanted to intro myself as I have been surfing the forums, hunting tips and tricks. I found R-Pod Nation first and came across this fine group the other day.
I am a new 1st time camper owner and just looking for ways to make sure I am safe, friendly and reliable. Thanks for all the great info.
Now, what the hell to do about the risers? To install or not...that seems to be a great debate. Lots of details to consider.
I pick the PackR-pod up Sat. morning...can't wait for the 1st trip.
Happy Podding, X

Yeah Racer you are going to want the risers, they should be standard equipment, it makes the step up perfect, you dont scrape stabilizers going in and out of gas stations, it keeps the black water dump valve further off of the ground, and it looks better setting up, yeah, hook up and get em, they are not hard to put on.

I agree about the risers; it should be standard equipment. We spent a lot of last summer driving to Bong Recreational Area and Wisconsin 75 was shut down for most of the summer as they were ripping up the road and repaving it. The first time I had hit the road, the pod bottomed out trying to get across the road construction. We had Collier's, the dealer, install the risers this fall when we dropped the trailer off for storage. You wouldn't think that those few extra inches would make a difference, but I can see how it's going to make a huge difference.

Welcome! I agree about the risers. You will find it much less hassle to have them on.

Welcome. We are here in Oregon and only have the Hood River Edition available to us. This includes the risers. Have been doing a lot of research on this website, and all who have added them have been very satisifed. They have mentioned not scraping the jacks when entering or exiting filling stations, also on uneven pavement in campgrounds. Good enough for me. Would highly recommend adding them to your tailer. We are awaiting delivery on our 171 in about 6 weeks. Enjoy!!

The only thing I do not like about the risers is the extra gap under the fenders. Makes the fenders less effective and looks funny IMO. Unfortunately if you were to move the fenders down you'll see where they were mounted originally - so I've left mine.
