The Pod is covered and it has been raining all day long. Someday Donna and I will be able to laugh at the weather and head south, or west. I wonder what it would be like to not have to jump through hoops, look at the watch and say I am running late. How long does it take to get over responsibility ? Sorry about rambling on, I have many things to look forward to. Christmas with our Daughter and Son and their familes and the 7.65 pound Flat Cut Beef Brisket that will be cooked on our Big Green Egg @ 300 d/f for 2.5 hours after the marinade. God Bless everyone.

You have a lot to look forward to, time with your family and a good meal and when you are able to head south you can look forward to 85 degree weather and warm sunshine that was the weather today in south Florida. Big smile         David and Danette

Hang in there K and D, I have been able to cut back to 3 days a week, but Donna and I have to still pull the plow, Health care Insurance is a biggy, I am 62 and she will be 60 in Febuary. I know we will have our time in the Sun, and so will you.

Well, we are retired now and our pod is sitting at the bottom of the garden teasing us.
Responsibility is a funny thing. You think you will be free but you never really are. You don't really want to leave your kids and grandbabies at Christmas and the fellows you curl with are running short of spares and so on...
I will tell you though, that retirement with a loving partner is wonderful even if you can't travel all the time due to health, money or any of those responsibilities.

Just waking up each morning and saying "What shall we do today?" knowing you have a today you can spend together is enough. Life is short. Enjoy it while you can.

We can't wait for that day to arrive. Seven more years of teaching to go...then we hit the road!

Today was a friend's last day at work, she left mid-day to go to Florida for New Year's.  She made a similar comment that while they would love to move where it is warmer it is more important to stay close to their grandkids.  So while they'll get some travelling in (they have a cruise planned for this spring), they won't really be "leaving it all behind".

Well so far we have 3 grand cats, our daughter (recently divorced and no children) has one and our son has 2. Son and daughter in law are trying, but so far no grandchildren. I know I am 62 with a 36 year old daughter and a 32 year old son, but when Donna and I got married, me 21 and her 18, I dont remember trying, whammo it just happened, ya Gotta laugh at life, God bless all of us during the Christmas Holiday season

Sure didn't take us long when we decided to go for it.  But we also had a lot of practice before that.    Broken Heart

There is a lot to be said for being young when you have your kids. Tom and I were married at 21 and had our first when we were 25. No trouble at all. Now we are both 61 and have been "on our own" for the past 10 years.
One of my daughters-in-law will be 40 this year and they had their first this summer. Times certainly have changed.
I am so glad we had ours when we could keep up with them!
