Hello there Pod Folks,

I used my R-Dome for the first time on my last camping trip mid-July, and I loved it.  Unfortunately, when I took it down, I was shocked  Star  that it (the white part) ripped!  And it ripped so easily.  No problem -- It turns out that Forest River is aware that the R-dome material is defective (or weak) and so they are replacing  Thumbs Up  my R-Dome.  I don't know if this has been an issue for anyone else, but thought you might like to know.

Also, had the axle risers installed today.  No more sanding the stabilizers on the pavement or digging them in the dirt, . . . AND . . . no more "dumping" uphill.

Thumbs Up
Great news, Diane!  I'm glad to hear they are going to take care of you.  I'm also intersted in seeing pictures of your new awning when you get it.

Too bad about the dome...let's hope the new one isn't 'weak or defective'! The first ime putting it in is a bear, though. Hope the awning slides in easier.

I'll be curious to see if there are any differences between the old Dome and the new one.  Congrats on the new risers!

Glad you got it sorted out.  We got risers for ours recently too and hubby tested it on the driveway (very end is sloped) and it worked great!  We had previously took a route through our yard to avoid scraping.

Diane,

We too had a rip in our dome.  Was yours in the fabric itself or at a seam?  Did you have to return the defective dome or send photos of the damage?

Sherrie,

The rip was not in the seam but it was in the white fabric beside the seam.  It ripped about 3 feet.  I had previously talked to the dealer on the phone and he asked me to bring the R-Dome down for his warranty guy to look at when I had the axle risers installed.  The warranty guy looked at it and then called FR and they said they would send a replacement because they were already aware there was a defect with the fabric.

I didn't have to deal with FR myself.  But I do have to turn the ripped R-Dome back in to the dealer when the new dome comes in.
