Its currently 107 F / 41.6 C in Baltimore. I don't think I've ever seen it that high, at most it will get to 101 or 102 during an average summer. Even at home where it usually doesn't get above 91-92 its nearly 100.
I'm signed up with a program that gives me $200 per year so they can shut off my A/C pumps a few times each summer, and they did it starting at 11 today, much earlier than usual. 4 out of 5 times it isn't turned back on until 6 so its going to be quite hot at home when I get there. I have a window unit downstairs that I turned on before I left in anticipation of this happening so at least one room will be tolerable.
How is everyone else holding up?

Can you take refuge in the Pod with the AC on? I have never seen it so hot across the nation - hotter in some of the northern states than it is here near Atlanta! Hope everyone is able to stay cool -- be safe.

I liked your Apollo 13 anology regarding my broken heat pump yesterday....got it fixed at about 3:30pm . I rescheduled my camping reservation this weekend for next and am hoping for cooler temps. Just a bit too warm for my tastes. I measured 107 at home yesterday on my weather station however, it may be a bit off as I have the sensor a little too close to the house at the moment.
Side note:
Cancelling a reservation = cost of first night's stay (24-25 bucks)
Rescheduling a reservation = $5

Took this photo downtown in our little burg yesterday at noon. One of my Facebook friends is a producer at the local ABC affiliate. She saw it there and used it on the news last night. Notice how I managed to get both the front AND back of my index finger in the picture. Duh.

Normally I would have that option, Hodge, but currently my 'pod is at the dealer. My little window unit is my only refuge if you don't count our cars.
rpodcamper - ouch!
David, I'm hoping for cooler temps next weekend, too. We are supposed to go to a drive-in theater. I'll have a fan (gotta love inverters) but that won't mean much if its like this weekend.

Huron, cool! David, I completely forgot about it. O. M. G. That tank is going to smell like butterflies and unicorns when I get it back next week. |

My wife had this posted as her Facebook status today. I am man enough to admit I almost cried, knowing how hot it felt today in the few short minutes I walked from my air conditioned office to my air conditioned car. I was going to complain about how hot it is...then I realized that at least: 1.) it isn't 109 degrees 2.) I'm not 5,700 miles from home 3.) I'm not dressed in a full BDU uniform and helmet and carrying 70+ lbs. 4.) there is very little chance that anyone will shoot at me or that I might drive over a bomb in the road today! Thanks to all who serve!!! |

Pee-uew-eee! You're right David. I did forget about Tech's "issue" and apparently so did he. What an appropriate picture !!!
And Tech - thanks for reminding us about what is REALLY important. It's hot - but we're still safe and secure.
