I'm 64 years old and only speak English.  Sometimes I really mess it up, so don't worry about it.  You are doing just fine!Smile

I know I would not want to learn English and all its broken rules if it was a second or third language for me.  Although all the masculine/feminine congugation in Russian didn't always make sense to me, either.  Let's just say it was not my best subject.  Censored

I agree.  Want to confuse a non-native speaker?  Write this:
"Time flies like an arrow.  Fruit flies like a banana".

Yeah...our language sucks.

And the spoken ones are even better "what is black and white and re(a)d all over?" or "railroad crossing, look out for the cars, can you spell that without any "r"s?

Really - English isn't all that crazy.  It's just derived from so many different languages, with each derivative word bringing the rules of its language of origin.  I wouldn't say it is so much crazy as it is confusing, especially to my own little K-2 students who are mostly Hispanic.  (I teach English as a second language.)

For instance, you "park in a driveway," and you "drive on a parkway."

Or -- you blow a horn; the wind blows, you blow up something with explosives; you blow up a balloon (or YOU blow up like a balloon); if you're not careful you may blow your spelling test; if you ignore someone you blow them off, and if you lose your temper you blow off steam, or you may blow up.  Not to mention if you have bad tires you may have a blowout.  Oh, . . . and can you blow soap bubbles . . . or blow a bubble with your bubble gum?

Come to think of it, maybe all of you are right after all.  It DOES sound pretty crazy!  Confused
