   I heard a rumor that the Dish network has come out with a "plan" especially for RVers.  You pay as you go, no contracts, you can start/stop service anytime you want.

Have any of you heard details about this?

	What a coincidence - I just read an ad in the magazine I get from Camping World. There is a 2 page spread about the new Pay-As-You-Go Programming from Dish network. You buy the ViP 211K receiver (which Camping World has for $134.99) which is compatible with most Winegard satellite antennas. Choose your progarmming package and prepay each month in advance. You don't have to call and cancel, just don't pay next months price and you service is discontinued. Want to pick it up again...just call and start prepaying. The phone number listed is 1-866-609-9374. If you want to see the ad with more details you can view it on Camping World's website. The ad is inside the front cover.

	An FYI for those with DirecTV (and this should apply to Dish too), you can just take one of your receivers with you - no need for a separate account. You just need a dish mounted to a portable base of some kind (make your own or you can buy them), often you can get dishes free on Craigslist. I kept my old standard-def dish when we went high-def, which is another option. One benefit of using a standard-def dish is they are much easier to aim. DirecTV doesn't require a phone line and I think that is true for Dish for an extra fee. One catch to this - if you travel outside of your "home" area, you won't be able to receive your local channels. They are broadcast on narrow spot-beams from the satellite. You used to be able to get an account for RVs which let you receive the "big 3" via their home-area broadcast channel (such as WABC in New York) but which was re-broadcast on a nationwide beam, but I don't know if you can do that anymore.

	techntrek: I'm on DirecTV and have an old dish and receiver that I'm not using. Can I pack these in the trailer and just grab the ID card out of my bedroom receiver and stick it in the spare receiver in my camper when I want to use it?

	I think the card and receiver are paired up, so you'll need to take an active receiver/card combo with you.
