Good afternoon Fellow Rpodders!  Happy Memorial Day.  While hard to believe, the Traverse City Rally is now only 17 days away!

Nothing of substance has changed since the last early May update.  We are still holding strong at 30 campers, which is AMAZING!

As before, most of you will be checking in on Thursday, June 15th and checking out on Sunday, June 18th.  Please know that when you check in, you will need to pay the balance of your total reservation amount.  The daily rate is $66; however, the campground has generously agreed to give us a 10% daily discount of $6.60.  Please join me in thanking campground reps for doing so.

All sites are pull-through and come equipped with water, sewer, electric, cable, and internet at no additional charge.

On Thursday night, we will hold an informal gathering on site 177 around a bonfire.  Site 177, occupied by Jim and Diane Tollefson (jato), will serve as Command Central throughout the weekend.  However, if more room is needed for certain activities, we will utilize the pavilion area located to the immediate east of site 177.

Campers will have all day Friday to themselves until 6 PM to explore all things Traverse City and beyond.  Many of us will not be leaving the campground, so feel free to hang out and mingle.  Chances are there will be some Cornhole, and possibly some euchre, throughout the day.

At 6 PM on Friday night, we will all gather at site 177 for a potluck dinner and bonfire.  Hot dogs, very tasty hot dogs, will be provided by your hosts.  If you don't like hot dogs, please bring your own entree.  If it is a meat, jato will gladly grill it on his charcoal grill.  Please also bring a dessert or dish to pass, your own beverages, and your own table service.

After dinner on Friday night, we will have a Q &A session about all things Rpods at site 177.  It's incredible how much we can learn from the expertise and experiences of fellow Rpodders.

After the Q & A, we will pass out some free giveaways from Forest River to all campers.  If you get a chance, please thank Travis Mattingly for making the giveaways possible.

After the giveaways, we will all gather around the bonfire at site 177 to renew old friendships and begin making new ones, assuming we haven't already done so.

On Saturday, beginning at 11 AM, we will hold our annual Open House where we can see what other campers have done with their home away from home and hopefully pick up a nugget or two of new info from others.  This will last until approximately 2 PM.

If you're interested in opening your Rpod for viewing by others, please advise Jay Raupp on site 176 on Friday night.  Participation in the Open House of course is optional, but highly encouraged.  Nothing else is planned until 6 PM on Saturday night, providing yet another opportunity to visit the Traverse City Region or hang out with fellow campers.

On Saturday night at 6 PM on sites 176 and 177, we will once again gather for yet another potluck dinner, most likely relying upon leftovers from Friday night and anything else you might want to bring to share that evening.  Once again, tasty hot dogs will be provided by your hosts.

After dinner on Saturday night, the fun begins.  As with prior rallies, we will hold, for lack of a better term, our back-by-popular-demand Chinese auction.  As before, participation is entirely optional, but once again is highly encouraged.  Our major 'co-host' this year, Jack Kelly, will be the man who makes this an unforgettable experience and a lot of fun as well.

Those wishing to participate are asked to bring an item of value worth not more than $20 or thereabouts-  something perhaps peculiar to your local area or something you picked up en route the Rally.  You can choose to wrap the item, place it in a bag, or leave it unwrapped.   Each camper group will draw a number out of a hat.  Number 1 will get first dibs, followed of course by #2 and so on.  All gifts selected will be open to being stolen by subsequent campers up to a maximum of 3 times.  If your gift is stolen, you then get to pick a new gift or you can steal from someone who already has one.  Once every camper has had a chance to select a gift, #1 will be afforded the last selection.

After the Chinese auction, those who feel so inclined will once again gather around the bonfire at site 177 to continue sharing and getting to know one another.

On Sunday, June 18th, checkout is no later than 11 AM.  However, on site 177 at 930 AM , we will hold a nondenominational gathering at site 177, which should last no more than 30 minutes.

Jim and Jay

Rebecca Henderson (site 146) had to cancel because her husband needs back surgery.
We lost that site because Rebecca didn't know to contact anyone about her cancellation
at the time. My request to notify me of any cancellations went out the day after she
cancelled.

The one person on the wait list was able to get a site after I contacted the campground
and encouraged her to do likewise. Her name is Mary Seal, and she hails from Columbus,
Ohio. Email is seal0210@yahoo.com.

Mary has a 2022 193. Last year she attended rallies in Gettysburg, PA and the Great
Smoky Mountains. She was assigned site 201.

Accordingly, 3 weeks out our numbers remain at 30. Can't wait!

Good morning 2023 Traverse City Rpod Rally Attendees!

Our Rally is only 5 weeks out.  To the best of my knowledge, no one has yet to cancel.

That means our numbers remain at 30, with 1 additional person interested in the event of a cancellation, which is the primary reason why I'm reaching out to you today.

If any of us need to cancel, I would ask that you so advise me a day or two in advance before doing so. That will allow me the opportunity to try and get others into your site ahead of time before the campground assigns the site to someone else.

So very much looking forward to seeing former campers and meeting new ones.  If you have any questions, please reply on this forum or on the FB events section.  Thanks

Dear 2023 Traverse City R-pod Rally Attendees-

Jack Kelly here on behalf of this year's Traverse City (TC) R-pod Rally, which is now just 2 months away!!!

Here's what you can expect:

As with last year, Rally Central will be Site 177, occupied by Jim and Diane Tollefson.  All scheduled activities are expected to occur on site 177, or at the pavilion directly across from site 177.

Many of you will be staying all 3 nights over Father's Day Weekend, checking in on June 15th and checking out on June 18th .  Know in advance that there will be lots of down time purposely built into the schedule to give everyone an opportunity to visit and enjoy all things that Traverse City has to offer during most of Friday and Saturday.

For starters, Thursday night will be intentionally low key.  Feel free to drop by site 177, or not, for a very informal bonfire gathering.  No activities are scheduled for that evening.

Friday you will essentially have the entire day to yourself.   However, a possible optional potluck breakfast, which would be something new this year, is under consideration for Friday morning.  Starting around 6 pm, we will have a potluck dinner at site 177, followed of course by a bonfire.  Hot dogs, really tasty hotdogs, will be the main entree and will be provided by your hosts free of charge.  If you don't like hotdogs, really tasty hotdogs, then please bring your own entree.  Also please bring a desert or dish to pass, your own beverage, and your own table service.  We'll also plan on distributing any Forest River giveaways on Friday evening by picking names out of a hat.

After dinner we'll have a Q &A about all things R-pods.  We will also have some Forest River giveaways for attendees. Thereafter, the rest of the night will be spent around the bonfire getting to know one another.

Saturday we will have the chance to tour each others R-pods to see what people have done with their wonderful homes away from home.  Participation, of course, is totally optional and will start at 11 am and last until 1 or 2.  Thereafter, you're on your own until 6 pm, when we will once again gather at site 177 and most likely have another informal potluck using food that was left over from Friday night.

Around 7 pm the fun will start.

All attendees are requested to bring a gift, if possible from your local area, valued at no more than $20 for our back-by-popular-demand Chinese auction.  Gifts selected by all will be subject to being stolen, or permanently borrowed if you will, up to a maximum of 3 times by others.  Participation in this Chinese auction is entirely optional, but is also highly recommended!!!

After the Chinese auction, those wishing to do so will once again gather around site 177 for another fabulous bonfire opportunity to chat and exchange stories with old and newfound R-pod friends.

Sunday of course brings checkout time, which is no later than 11 am.  Beginning at 9:30 am, however, we will hold a non-denominational service, again at site 177, that should last no more than 30 minutes.  Please feel free to join us if you are so inclined.

And that folks is all she wrote.  Also likely expect some corn hole contests and possibly an informal euchre tournament to occur during those hours on Friday or Saturday when there's nothing officially scheduled.

Very much looking forward to meeting all of you. Please feel free to post any questions or comments you might have, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Best regards to all!  Hopefully will see you all in Traverse City a mere 2 months from now.  Until then, take care and safe travels.

Good morning fellow podders!  Jack Kelly here.  This is the first official 2023 TC Rpod Rally email.  Others will follow.  Henceforth, email will be the primary means of communication for attendees.

This year, Holiday Park Campground (campground is technically located just south of Traverse City) allotted us 30 campsites, 10 more than in previous years.  For your info, this year's event marks the 4th Annual TC Rpod Rally.  For the foreseeable future, in coming years expect the TC Rpod Rally to be held in the same place at the same time (Father's Day Weekend).

I'm happy to report that all 30 allotted sites are already spoken for.  Between now and the end of April, we will be maintaining a waiting list in the event of cancellations, which always happen.  Thus far, no one is on our wait list.  When a cancellation does occur between now and the end of April, Holiday Park will so notify me and we will be given a maximum of 2 calendar days to fill same from our waitlist (first come, first serve).  After April 30th, any cancelled sites become the sole property of Holiday Park Campground to fill as they see fit.

So, if you know anyone that still wants to attend, please have them email me at kellycg@aol.com, and have them also provide me with their phone number.

For those who have attended in the past, this year's Rally will in almost all respects mimic the structure of past Rallies.  Additional info regarding the Rally itself will be sent out this Friday

Just so that everyone knows, the following currently have confirmed reservations for the 30 sites we were allotted:

Last site: Franckowiak  campsite 199

Any others will be put on a wait list in case someone cancels or if there is another spot that opens in the campground.  I will check to see availability at Interlochen State Park which is about a 10 minute drive away.
