The above R-pod Rally reservation link (in the original post above) is now open and fully operational. All you need to do is click on the link and complete the simple Google online registration form.  The form does not allow you to select a site; that only happens when you finally speak with a Holiday Park Campground rep.  Once you've completed the form, you should receive a message stating: "2023 R-pod Rally. Your response has been recorded."

A representative from the campground will then call you back within a week to accept the reservation deposit and to discuss any preferred site number requests. If you do not hear back from a campground rep within one week of completing the online form, please go ahead and call the main campground number, which is 231-943-4410.  You may get lucky and get connected to a rep when you call, but in all likelihood you will need to leave a message with your telephone number.  Once you do get a chance to talk with a campground rep, don't forget to identify yourselves as being part of the R-pod Group.

We have 30 sites reserved for 2023 - 10 more than last year!  Site numbers are 141-146 (6 sites); 171-178 (8 sites); and 182-197 (16 sites).  A campground map is viewable on their website found at www.HolidayParkTC.com.

Obviously sites will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.  Also, once all 30 sites have been taken, we will assemble a waiting list in the event of subsequent cancellations from those who were given one of the 30 reserved sites.  Once these are filled another option, beside being on a wait list, is to camp at Interlochen State Park, about 7 miles away.

Rate is $66 per night, which includes full hookups- water, sewer, electric, cable, and WiFi.  All sites are pull-through.  There is also a $21 non-refundable reservation fee payable at the time of making your reservation.  So at the time of booking, you will be charged the first night's deposit of $66 plus the $21-non refundable reservation fee, for a total of $87.

At the time of check-in, you will be charged for their remaining 1-2 nights' stay (depending upon how long you're staying), and you will also be credited with a 10% group rate discount of $6.60 for each night of your stay, including the one night that you paid for when you made your initial payment of $87.

Please let me know if you have questions or issues with the registration process.  I believe all the bugs have now been addressed.  Please post the site number that has been assigned to you so that I can keep track of things.

Additional information regarding the 2023 R-pod Rally will be provided as we go along, but the format for the upcoming Rally will likely mirror that of past years.  Very much looking forward to seeing everyone!!!  This message will also be cross-posted for those in the r-pod facebook group as well.

Congratulations!  Looking forward to meeting you.  You will probably win the 'longest distance traveled award' which will garner you congrats from all in attendance.  My wife and I will win the wimpy award as it is only 33 miles away.  Do you have family in the area?

This is going to be a short trip only about 6,000 miles.  Last summer I did a much longer trip 19,204 miles.  Chico CA to Dallas to see a friend from high school, then up tp Nashville, TN then down the Natchez Trace to Natchez, then followed the coast to Florida and down to Key West.  From there up the east coast of Florida and into North Carolina and did the Shenandoah and Blue Ridge Parkway from there over to the east coast and up thru Maine and into Nova Scotia and Sydney.  From there down the St. Lawrence seaway to Niagara Falls.  From there into Canada and up to Prudhoe Bay then back to Fairbanks and the Alaskan highway back to Seattle and then home to Chico.

Update to the 2023 Traverse City R-Pod Rally:

Rally Central will be site 177.  Most scheduled activities will be take place at that site.

Many will be staying all 3 nights over Father's Day weekend, checking in on June 15th and checking out on June 18th.  Know in advance that there will be plenty of down tie purposely built into the schedule to give everyone an opportunity to visit and enjoy all things that Traverse City has to offer during most of Friday and Saturday.

For starters, Thursday night will be low key.  Feel free to drop by site 177, or not for a very informal bonfire gathering.  No ativities are scheduled for that evening.

Friday you will have the entire day to yourself.  However, a possible optional potluck breakfast, which would be something new this year, is under consideration for Friday morning.  Starting at 6 pm, we will have a potluck dinner at site 177, followed of course by a bonfire.  1/4#, black angus hotdogs will be the main entree (charcoal grilled of course!) will be the main entree and will be provided by our hosts free of charge.  If you don't like hotdogs, bring your own entree and if it is a meat, we will grill that over the charcoal as well.  Also, please bring a desert or dish to pass, your own beverage, and your own table service.  We will also plan on distributing any Forest River giveaways on Friday evening by picking names out of a hat.

After dinner a Q & A about all things R-Pod will take place.  After that the rest of the night will be spent around the bonfire getting to know one another.

Saturday we will have the chance to tour each others' R-Pods to see what people have done with their wonderful home away from home.  Participation is totally optional and will start at 11 am and last until 1 or 2 in the afternoon.  Free time after that until 6pm when we will once again gather at site 177 for another informal potluck.

Around 7 pm the fun will start.

All attendees are requested to bring a gift, if possible from your local area, valued at no more than $20 for our back-by-popular-demand Chinese auction.  Gifts selected by all will be subject to being stolen, or permanently borrowed if you will, up to a maximum of 3 times by others.  Participation in this auction is entirely optional, but it also highly recommended!!!

After the auction, those wishing to do so will once again gather around site 177 for another bonfire and opportunity to chat and exchange stories with old and new R-Pod friends.

Sunday of course brings checkout time, which is no later than 11 am.  Beginning at 9:30am we will hold an optional nondenominational service, again at site 177, that lasts about 30 minutes. You are invite to join us if your are so inclined.

Also likely expect some corn hole contests and possible an informal euchre tournament to occur during those hours on Friday or Saturday when there's nothing officially scheduled.

We all look forward to meeting all of you.  Please feel free to post and questions or comments you may have, and I will get back to you ASAP.

If you are still thinking of attending but haven't signed up yet, do so soon, only 7 open sites are available as of this writing.

Good morning fellow podders!  Jack Kelly here.  This is the first official 2023 TC Rpod Rally email.  Others will follow.  Henceforth, email will be the primary means of communication for attendees.

This year, Holiday Park Campground (campground is technically located just south of Traverse City) allotted us 30 campsites, 10 more than in previous years.  For your info, this year's event marks the 4th Annual TC Rpod Rally.  For the foreseeable future, in coming years expect the TC Rpod Rally to be held in the same place at the same time (Father's Day Weekend).

I'm happy to report that all 30 allotted sites are already spoken for.  Between now and the end of April, we will be maintaining a waiting list in the event of cancellations, which always happen.  Thus far, no one is on our wait list.  When a cancellation does occur between now and the end of April, Holiday Park will so notify me and we will be given a maximum of 2 calendar days to fill same from our waitlist (first come, first serve).  After April 30th, any cancelled sites become the sole property of Holiday Park Campground to fill as they see fit.

So, if you know anyone that still wants to attend, please have them email me at kellycg@aol.com, and have them also provide me with their phone number.

For those who have attended in the past, this year's Rally will in almost all respects mimic the structure of past Rallies.  Additional info regarding the Rally itself will be sent out this Friday

Just so that everyone knows, the following currently have confirmed reservations for the 30 sites we were allotted:

Kelly-  site 189
Tollefson-  site 177

Dear 2023 Traverse City R-pod Rally Attendees-

Jack Kelly here on behalf of this year's Traverse City (TC) R-pod Rally, which is now just 2 months away!!!

Here's what you can expect:

As with last year, Rally Central will be Site 177, occupied by Jim and Diane Tollefson.  All scheduled activities are expected to occur on site 177, or at the pavilion directly across from site 177.

Many of you will be staying all 3 nights over Father's Day Weekend, checking in on June 15th and checking out on June 18th .  Know in advance that there will be lots of down time purposely built into the schedule to give everyone an opportunity to visit and enjoy all things that Traverse City has to offer during most of Friday and Saturday.

For starters, Thursday night will be intentionally low key.  Feel free to drop by site 177, or not, for a very informal bonfire gathering.  No activities are scheduled for that evening.

Friday you will essentially have the entire day to yourself.   However, a possible optional potluck breakfast, which would be something new this year, is under consideration for Friday morning.  Starting around 6 pm, we will have a potluck dinner at site 177, followed of course by a bonfire.  Hot dogs, really tasty hotdogs, will be the main entree and will be provided by your hosts free of charge.  If you don't like hotdogs, really tasty hotdogs, then please bring your own entree.  Also please bring a desert or dish to pass, your own beverage, and your own table service.  We'll also plan on distributing any Forest River giveaways on Friday evening by picking names out of a hat.

After dinner we'll have a Q &A about all things R-pods.  We will also have some Forest River giveaways for attendees. Thereafter, the rest of the night will be spent around the bonfire getting to know one another.

Saturday we will have the chance to tour each others R-pods to see what people have done with their wonderful homes away from home.  Participation, of course, is totally optional and will start at 11 am and last until 1 or 2.  Thereafter, you're on your own until 6 pm, when we will once again gather at site 177 and most likely have another informal potluck using food that was left over from Friday night.

Participation in this Chinese auction is entirely optional, but is also highly recommended!!!

After the Chinese auction, those wishing to do so will once again gather around site 177 for another fabulous bonfire opportunity to chat and exchange stories with old and newfound R-pod friends.

Sunday of course brings checkout time, which is no later than 11 am.  Beginning at 9:30 am, however, we will hold a non-denominational service, again at site 177, that should last no more than 30 minutes.  Please feel free to join us if you are so inclined.

And that folks is all she wrote.  Also likely expect some corn hole contests and possibly an informal euchre tournament to occur during those hours on Friday or Saturday when there's nothing officially scheduled.

Very much looking forward to meeting all of you. Please feel free to post any questions or comments you might have, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Best regards to all!  Hopefully will see you all in Traverse City a mere 2 months from now.  Until then, take care and safe travels.

Good morning 2023 Traverse City Rpod Rally Attendees!

Our Rally is only 5 weeks out.  To the best of my knowledge, no one has yet to cancel.

That means our numbers remain at 30, with 1 additional person interested in the event of a cancellation, which is the primary reason why I'm reaching out to you today.

If any of us need to cancel, I would ask that you so advise me a day or two in advance before doing so. That will allow me the opportunity to try and get others into your site ahead of time before the campground assigns the site to someone else.

So very much looking forward to seeing former campers and meeting new ones.  If you have any questions, please reply on this forum or on the FB events section.  Thanks

Jim and Jay

Rebecca Henderson (site 146) had to cancel because her husband needs back surgery.
We lost that site because Rebecca didn't know to contact anyone about her cancellation
at the time. My request to notify me of any cancellations went out the day after she
cancelled.

The one person on the wait list was able to get a site after I contacted the campground
and encouraged her to do likewise. Her name is Mary Seal, and she hails from Columbus,
Ohio. Email is https://webmaila.juno.com/webmail/new/21?folder=Inbox&msgNum=00003000:001Rbh100003a9x&count=1684967519&randid=1382548724&attachId=0&isUnDisplayableMail=yes&blockImages=0&randid=1382548724# - seal0210@yahoo.com .

Mary has a 2022 193. Last year she attended rallies in Gettysburg, PA and the Great
Smoky Mountains. She was assigned site 201.

Accordingly, 3 weeks out our numbers remain at 30. Can't wait!

Jack

Good afternoon Fellow Rpodders!  Happy Memorial Day.  While hard to believe, the Traverse City Rally is now only 17 days away!

Nothing of substance has changed since the last early May update.  We are still holding strong at 30 campers, which is AMAZING!

As before, most of you will be checking in on Thursday, June 15th and checking out on Sunday, June 18th.  Please know that when you check in, you will need to pay the balance of your total reservation amount.  The daily rate is $66; however, the campground has generously agreed to give us a 10% daily discount of $6.60.  Please join me in thanking campground reps for doing so.

All sites are pull-through and come equipped with water, sewer, electric, cable, and internet at no additional charge.

On Thursday night, we will hold an informal gathering on site 177 around a bonfire.  Site 177, occupied by Jim and Diane Tollefson (jato), will serve as Command Central throughout the weekend.  However, if more room is needed for certain activities, we will utilize the pavilion area located to the immediate east of site 177.

Campers will have all day Friday to themselves until 6 PM to explore all things Traverse City and beyond.  Many of us will not be leaving the campground, so feel free to hang out and mingle.  Chances are there will be some Cornhole, and possibly some euchre, throughout the day.

At 6 PM on Friday night, we will all gather at site 177 for a potluck dinner and bonfire.  Hot dogs, very tasty hot dogs, will be provided by your hosts.  If you don't like hot dogs, please bring your own entree.  If it is a meat, jato will gladly grill it on his charcoal grill.  Please also bring a dessert or dish to pass, your own beverages, and your own table service.

After dinner on Friday night, we will have a Q &A session about all things Rpods at site 177.  It's incredible how much we can learn from the expertise and experiences of fellow Rpodders.

After the Q & A, we will pass out some free giveaways from Forest River to all campers.  If you get a chance, please thank Travis Mattingly for making the giveaways possible.

After the giveaways, we will all gather around the bonfire at site 177 to renew old friendships and begin making new ones, assuming we haven't already done so.

On Saturday, beginning at 11 AM, we will hold our annual Open House where we can see what other campers have done with their home away from home and hopefully pick up a nugget or two of new info from others.  This will last until approximately 2 PM.

If you're interested in opening your Rpod for viewing by others, please advise Jay Raupp on site 176 on Friday night.  Participation in the Open House of course is optional, but highly encouraged.  Nothing else is planned until 6 PM on Saturday night, providing yet another opportunity to visit the Traverse City Region or hang out with fellow campers.

On Saturday night at 6 PM on sites 176 and 177, we will once again gather for yet another potluck dinner, most likely relying upon leftovers from Friday night and anything else you might want to bring to share that evening.  Once again, tasty hot dogs will be provided by your hosts.

After dinner on Saturday night, the fun begins.  As with prior rallies, we will hold, for lack of a better term, our back-by-popular-demand Chinese auction.  As before, participation is entirely optional, but once again is highly encouraged.  Our major 'co-host' this year, Jack Kelly, will be the man who makes this an unforgettable experience and a lot of fun as well.

Those wishing to participate are asked to bring an item of value worth not more than $20 or thereabouts-  something perhaps peculiar to your local area or something you picked up en route the Rally.  You can choose to wrap the item, place it in a bag, or leave it unwrapped.   Each camper group will draw a number out of a hat.  Number 1 will get first dibs, followed of course by #2 and so on.  All gifts selected will be open to being stolen by subsequent campers up to a maximum of 3 times.  If your gift is stolen, you then get to pick a new gift or you can steal from someone who already has one.  Once every camper has had a chance to select a gift, #1 will be afforded the last selection.

After the Chinese auction, those who feel so inclined will once again gather around the bonfire at site 177 to continue sharing and getting to know one another.

On Sunday, June 18th, checkout is no later than 11 AM.  However, on site 177 at 930 AM , we will hold a nondenominational gathering at site 177, which should last no more than 30 minutes.

As of a couple hours ago the 1 last open spot has been filled by a couple who are traveling to Michigan from Arizona.  They still will not get the award for furthest away as we have a pod coming from California who will get that prize.

Holiday Campground let me know that we have another podder for the rally.  That makes 31.  They are not located with us but in a different part of the part, not too far away, maybe 0.2-0.25 miles away.  Apparently there are a couple sites left, but in a more remote part of the park.

Our TC (Traverse City) 2023 Rpod Rally is now only 10 days away.  Current forecast temps for the 3 day Rally are low 80s and mostly sunny, with a chance of rain, mainly on Thursday.  Also, if past experience is any indication, our Rally area is also typically blessed with at least a soft breeze.  But that said, be sure to bring your sunscreen!

Assuming the attached spreadsheet info is correct, here's the breakdown:

Model 176 (1)
Model 177 (3)
Model 178 (1)
Model 179 (10)
Model 180 (3)
Model 189 (1)
Model 190 (2)
Model 192 (1)
Model 193 (1)
Model 196 (4)
Model 201 (1)
Model 202 (2)

Furthermore, this year we will have campers attending from 10 different home states, definitely a first for the TC Rally to date:

Arizona (1)
California (1)
Indiana (2)
Illinois (1)
Kentucky (1)
Michigan (17)
Mississippi (1)
Ohio (2)
Texas (2)
Wisconsin (2)

Let me know if any of the attached information is incorrect.  Please also let me know if there are other individuals in your family attending.

Extending safe travel best wishes and blessings to all.  Again, please let ne know if you need to cancel before doing so.  See you all in TC in 10 days!

Regarding the Chinese auction gift exchange, please feel free to bring just 1 gift, which is what most of us (but not all of us) typically choose to do.  But if you bring 2 gifts to exchange, know that you'll be walking away from the Rally with 2 gifts as well.

Sincerest best regards,

Jack and Gail Kelly

Fantastic Rally, great weather, 31 R-Pods in the final tally from 10 states.  Many new friendships made as well as previous friendships renewed.  Many ideas exchanged and repairs made with those having issues. Many impressed with the 1/4# black angus hot dogs as well as the amount of food fellow podders prepared.  No one left hungry, either for food or friendship.
